SMACK!
Ophelia, who is currently unfrozen, is unable to stop the swing of her hand that collies against Charlotte's face. She took immediate regard to the mocking whispers of the nobles. Being completely unbothered by them she focused on the hostile woman across from her. Her hand unhurriedly retreated her gaze becoming indifferent, unlike the original Ophelia.
The taste of copper filled Charlotte's mouth inciting her lips to curl up gaging. Liquid daring to leave her eyes from the pain of the stinging of her cheek was repealed by pride. Her tanned palm cupped her bruised cheek. Whilst, a fierce glare of resolve is displayed on her upturned face.
She knew she won against Ophelia.
This will be the source of the dissolution of the noblesse reputation, with both the fans of the story and the nobles.
It was ostensible in the original plots. Despite not caring and wanting to live freely in this new life she'd be damned if she run away with her tails between her legs. She wasn't going to run from anybody; whether it is a bunch of talkative nobles or the emperor himself. So putting an act up to disguise her personality would be doing just that.
Ophelia immediately retrieved her stinging hand glancing at the woman in front of her.
Loath.
Loath, shun vibrantly in the eyes of the young woman as she nestled her cheek. Determination poured off of her. Charlotte's lips stayed clasped together despite wanting to curse Ophelia. Instead, her stare was directed somewhere past Ophelia, who slowly turned her hand back and forth to get a full understanding of how badly her attack against the women affected her. Her eyes narrowed in on a pink color fading into her pale skin, causing her lips to pierce. She was just as affected by the hit as Charlotte was, it is pathetic.
"This won't do."
Ophelia murmured under her breath her eyes flickering in annoyance. Being weak was a flaw she just isn't willing to have. She lifted her head, her gray orbs shifting away from her bruised hand to instantly lock with The girl in front of her. Her eyebrow perked up noticing the girl's crossed arms. It's a habit that many believed to mean that one was going on defense if they did so; that was completely wrong people had the habit of doing so most when uncomfortable. Something similar to a self-hug. But of course, that doesn't apply to everyone is that everyone has their way of dealing with emotions. But stereotypically speaking Ophelia believed she was right. She learned to analyze emotions at a young age, something she used to protect herself.
"Apologize."
With a subtle slant of her lip, Ophelia's eyes darkened.
"Beg."
Her blunt response shocked Charlotte expecting a much more elaborate answer. That wasn't the only thing the alarmed her, the sound of Ophelia's voice also stunned her. It isn't the same as it was a second ago. It made Charlotte want to fall on her knees and beg, it is similar to the emperor's voice. It is a voice that would fit an emperor.
Frightening.
Contrasting her voice and current mood a soft smile appeared on the face of Ophelia her eyes turning up into beautiful crescents. She lightly tilted her head and slanted her eyes daring anyone to question her.
"Me? Apologize? I may do so, that is if you get on your knees and beg for it. Do so like the filthy commoner you are. If you execute it accordingly I might even let that filthy tongue of yours clean my heel."
It is fun to fill the role of the villainess. she found no need to act weak or apologize. It is out of character for both her and Ophelia and she means both of the souls.
Ophelia's eyes became brighter noticing Charlotte's expression twisting in disgust. She never liked Charlotte's character, she is redeemable as is every character but Ophelia was having fun. She isn't at all a heroine's person and probably was the perfect fit for a villainess and she isn't planning to act any other way.
"Why would I?"
Charlotte hissed out resentfully.
"Are you crazy or just shameless?"
Ophelia's lips curved up into a devilish smile sending a chill down Charlotte's spine prompting her to involuntary shiver.
That is a new look for Ophelia.
"Take a pick."
The light chuckle that slipped from Ophelia's lips caused Charlotte to shrink back. Ophelia's eyes looked upon the crowd of various nobles. It was simply out of habit when she questioned them.
"Does anyone desire to choose..?"
Her pale hands moved to leisurely lay on her hips as she tilted her head upward.
"Do you believe I'm crazy?"
She chuckled out as if she was still in the ring asking her fans if they wanted her to end the fight with a flying chair or her bare fist.
"Or shameless?"
Her silver orbs flickered with something dark looking down on the crowd of nobles as if she's a higher being.
She held a gaze that one would imagine the devil having.
"It seems that you are both."
An unfamiliar voice uttered from behind her. The voice was that of a male, his tone sounding similar to her own, it's demanding with features befitting an Emperor. She swiftly turned around every bit of her movement radiating with elegance.
"Oh."
Her eyes came in contact with a man that stood directly behind her. The male has to be at least six foot two possibly taller. His eyes are gold shimmering like diamonds; they are beautiful yet dangerous, holding a chilling temperament beneath them. Making it impossible for an ordinary individual to stare into his eyes for too long without feeling like they were about to die. Ophelia is anything but normal so she indulgently stared into his eyes, the male being the only reason she read 'The Villainess Mission To Getting Home' or abbreviated as V.M.H. Which is the story she is in.
His unkempt raven hair reached his lower neck. He is currently wearing a silver ancient robe embedded with gold string, layering it is a black jacket that is held together by a silver chain, the jacket being covered in gold medals.
Then lastly on top of it is a red cloak, it has multiple golden chains keeping it on his shoulders. Just by a glance, anyone could tell the male is the current Emperor. Even his expression radiated power.
If not the ruler he was a man who had to hold more power than one.
His glove-covered hand went toward his neck to unclip the chains holding his cloak in place. His finger maneuvered around the chains taking him a few seconds to unclip it. He impatiently yanks it from his shoulders as if it didn't cost more than the duke's palace alone. The cloak flew through the air falling onto a male beside him; his right-hand man who he happens to treat like an aid. He isn't an assistance, he isn't even a servant of the kingdom. He is an heir from another monarchy that is currently going through a civil war.
He is a character Ophelia never really liked; she feels completely indifferent towards him. But his death was always wanted. He is ignorant and despite being a fool with no experience in an actual war he won the war and none of his soldiers died. He wasn't just fighting anyone he was in war against a war veteran who was smarter.
She calls out Male lead buff.
Damn that, she calls out the 'power of love conquers anything despite me never touching a sword a day in my life but still beating the main boss with my girlfriend who is scared of blood.' route, and she was not exaggerating that is exactly how it went down.
"Is that so?"
she muttered humming a low tone of satisfaction, unable to stop staring into the man's eyes. Charlotte completely froze feeling the pressure of the man's presence behind her causing her to want to disappear she despised this man with a passion; as did the Ophelia of the novel V.M.H. But despite hatting him, Charlotte needed him she couldn't let Ophelia win the man over. That and it was scary thinking of what the two mental cases would do when alone in the same room. Ruling the world didn't seem as impossible for them if they shared their thoughts.
world destruction...
and that was a terrifying outcome that Charlotte couldn't let happen.
Ophelia knew what she was thinking despite not even glancing at her. Her grin widened finally reaching her eyes causing them to upturn.
'They're all hypocrites it pisses me off that they all think they're in the right
'oh?'
Huey questioned.
'I never thought this novel held any true villains or heroes.'
'not even the protagonist?'
'Let me point this out first, I don't believe in the concept of heroes and villains. Only those who push to survive in a world with odds against them.'
'I don't agree with that notion but I am interested to hear more of it.'
Because despite being an artificial being Huey loved seeing from different people's points of view.
'I don't believe and villains but I do believe there are monsters. Humans who have the choice to choose a better path a cleaner path but dismiss it. like those who kidnap, rape, kill, etc for just the fun of it...'
'Those people or monsters not villains.'
Ophelia's eyes moved towards a fidgeting Charlotte.
'A hero is simply defined as someone who is admired.'
Her eyes moved back towards Alaric.
'Whist a villain is defined as someone whose evil deeds are important to the plot. That being said every Hero should be a Villain as should every villain be a Hero. That alone dismisses the terms but I do believe they're much more to it and differents sides to seeing it. But I will end my explanation there.'
"But you do know what pisses me off more than them concepts being used?'
Ophelia questioned Huey who was more than happy to know.
'Go on.'
'Those who judge someone without knowing them and those who know someone but don't believe in changing them. And most of all, those who want them to change; for their belief of good, but not caring if they do change. Because the mere notion of wanting them to change is them lying to themselves so they could feel better about themselves when in all actuality their judgment is indefinite."
'out of them, three types of people Charlotte is categorized under the first type. Therefore I don't like her.'
'but you do believe you may one day like her because she may change?'
'Yes the possibility of us getting along, later on, is likely.'
"How dare you disrespect the Emperor's Consort"
Alaric's gaze never left her as Alexander spoke in his place, his brows lightly furrowed hand fidgeting but he held a calm expression.
Ophelia's eyes dimmed when coming saw his figure. Alexander was a side character in the original story who had emotions for Charlotte the V.H.M Ophelia slowly swayed his emotions towards her. Alexander is an easy-tempered Tsundere-type male lead so he didn't fully understand his feelings yet and lashed out at Ophelia. This caused V.H.M Ophelia to withdraw her advances and slowly despise him. This was just the simple 'up and downs of the relationship.
It honestly took an annoyingly long amount of time for the two characters to get together. It couldn't even be called a slow burn story anymore when Alexander was having a hard time to convoy his emotions on the 100dth chapter and V.H.M Ophelia still kinda didn't like him. In actuality what Alexander felt for Ophelia wasn't romantic love.
He's a pitiful guy.
But she isn't about to lead him on any further doing so was unnecessarily cruel especially since she already locked on to her target.
At least he has an adorable face that makes him bearable enough.
His white hair was neat stopping mid-neck, eyes being red similar to rubies and he had a boyish charm. His skin is pale reminding Ophelia of a baby rabbit.
Those despicable beings were demons covered in fur but at the very least they are adorable. Much like Alexander.
"Bunny boy..."
Ophelia accidentally muttered causing Alexander to flush in annoyance Alaric glanced over to the male nodding his head in agreement.
"Baby rabbit."
Alaric corrected causing the male to grow redder. Charlotte let out a low chuckle in amusement.
'I'm being targeted!'
"W-why yo-you why did you slander the Emperor's consort."
"The Emperor's consort candidate."
Ophelia corrected.
"It doesn't matter you have no ri-."
"Being the Emperor Empress candidate I do, and what right of yours give you the ability to correct my mistakes?"
"I'm I-."
"By the looks of it you're his assistant, am I wrong?"
The pale-haired women's eyes squinted lightly tilting her head up pressuring the boy.
"Oh! perhaps you're another Empress candidate if not could you be his bed warmer?"
"Wh-what I'm a boy, that's weird?!"
"Quite a few allied northern kingdoms accept same-sex marriages as long as there is a woman as a second wife. Our Kingdom also allows that after the late Emperor's brother brought his lover in the palace. Are you calling our Empire's war hero weird?"
"No! that's not what I mean! u-uh Uh! I mean that I and Alaric is not a thing!"
"Oh, so you're not a high-ranking noble at least not of this kingdom since I never heard of you. Your not his lover nor a candidate to be his bride so what form of power allows you to talk down to me?"
