90. Defense of Yonglin

In the somewhat crude hall hastily set up, Xia Shu stared solemnly at the black-clad youth sitting leisurely inspecting the room, along with four black-clad knights standing guard beside him. "Sir," he began, "if there's anything to say, it could be said now. I'm still unacquainted with your identities and those of your companions."

Ye Li glanced at the two men and laughed, "No wonder General Murong would send you two to guard Yonglin City. Colonel Yun is brave and Colonel Xia is cautious—a rare combination indeed."

Xia Shu managed a bitter smile. "If you and your men hadn't arrived promptly today, I am afraid Yun Ting and I would have had to apologize with our lives." His gaze stayed fixed on Ye Li; he hadn't forgotten the young man had yet to identify himself.

Left with no choice, Ye Li reached up and unfastened the hairpin holding her hair in a bun. Her blue-black locks cascaded down around her shoulders. She smiled gently. "I am Princess Consort Ding."
