93. The Battlefield
By the main road not far from Broken Snow Pass, several hidden guards discreetly protected their respective masters, strategically concealed. Darky Three, bored, was lounging on a branch of a large, leafy tree by the road. He pointed to a small hill not far off and said to Darky Two, who was meditating under the tree with his eyes closed, "Look how foolish they are. Hiding there, the Prince and Princess Consort will surely discover them."
Darky Two glanced up at him. "They are hidden guards, not spies conducting surveillance. It's enough that others don't discover them. Even if the Prince didn't spot them, he would know they were following." Hidden guards, after all, are meant to protect their masters twenty-four hours a day.
Darky Three rolled over on the branch. "We are hidden guards too." Even if we don't quite look the part.
