Chapter 8 - 8- Li Shenzhen

Li Wenya stood up quickly, ready to escape—

"Wenya!"

She turned around.

It was Li Shenzhen, her real brother in this world.

He looked tall, cold, and handsome, just like she remembered from the novel. The kind of person who had the looks of a prince and the personality of a glacier.

She hadn't talked much to him since her arrival in this world. Their few interactions were… weird.

"You're coming home with me," he said flatly, his gaze scanning her face like he was checking for signs of brain damage.

She opened her mouth to protest—but then closed it. She needed more information anyway, and Li Shenzhen might hold some of the answers. Like how the original Wenya died.

Li Shenzhen drove with one hand on the wheel and a permanent frown etched into his face. He hadn't spoken since they left school.

She broke the silence. "Hey… what was I like before?"

He raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"I mean… do you think I've changed?"

Li Shenzhen looked at her, puzzled. "You used to be loud. Clingy and Stupid. Now you're... spaced out. Are you sick?"

"No," she said quietly, looking out the window.

Just reborn into a new body inside a novel where I'm supposed to die. No big deal.

Lying on the soft princess-pink bed in her luxurious room, Li Wenya stared at the ceiling.

She was walking on thin ice.

One wrong step, and she could fall through—back into the role of the villainess, back into the plot, back into her doom.

Xi Yanli was suspicious.Li Shenzhen was observant. And worst of all, she had no idea how the original story actually ends.

All she knew was—

Li Wenya dies.

And the heroine wins.

"I just want to survive," she whispered to the night. "Is that too much to ask?"

The phone beside her lit up.
