Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Flower of Evil (Thanks to the adorable Lulu's Silver League!)

To survive in Perfect Life, Han Fei repeatedly analyzed the icebox murder case and the human-body puzzle case. He tried to look at it from the killer's perspective, often staring at the photos on the wall late at night.

As those vivid lives vanished before his eyes, Han Fei felt a sharp pain in his heart with every thought.

Why would someone commit such cruel and horrifying acts?

Sinking his mind into thought, Han Fei pieced together the image of the killer in his brain sea, using photos related to the cases.

The twisted psyche and distorted emotions, driven by hatred, using extreme actions to achieve their goals.

Unlike the hysterical perception of criminals by the public, the killer had a meticulous logical mind. Each crime was long premeditated, not a moment of insanity.

Their expression should have been mad, their behavior rational. Their brains lacked many things, as they showed no love or sympathy. Such selfish apathy and hatred were ingrained in their bones.

The puzzle formed by bodies gradually became clear; a vague figure quietly emerged.

He was introverted, selfish, cold, with delicate emotions but unable to communicate with the outside world. His personality was clever yet inherently abnormal; he lived wearing a mask until the prey walked into the deserted hallway.

At that moment, he cast aside all disguises and then revealed a smile.

The smile was like a rose blooming over the graveyard, its roots deeply embedded in the corpses. The more brilliantly beautiful it bloomed, the more cruel and filthy his heart.

Seeing the smile from Han Fei, Zhan Lele hugged Director Jiang's arm, and both took a step back in unison.

No one called cut, and no one spoke a word. As Han Fei moved forward, Zhan Lele and Director Jiang stepped back again until they hit the stair rail.

Zhan Lele, whose legs were somewhat weak, wanted to hide behind Director Jiang. It was then that Director Jiang came to his senses, drawing a sharp breath and nodding sincerely, "Okay! Okay! Han Fei, how about you play the villain in this series? You fit the role perfectly, naturally, from your eyes to your expression. Even though there's not a trace of madness, anyone who sees you might feel fear."

Zhan Lele's face turned pale. He stepped from behind Director Jiang, and in terms of acting, Han Fei held him in suspense.

Compared to Han Fei's performance, Zhan Lele's acting earlier seemed like a mambo, just thinking about it made his toes curl with embarrassment.

Although Zhan Lele wanted nothing more than to find a hole to hide in, he had to step up for his character. The company had arranged everything, and if he lost the role due to his own failure, he would have a hard time explaining it afterward.

Opening his mouth, Zhan Lele, usually eloquent, suddenly found himself at a loss for words. His acting was completely outshone, and the gap had become so obvious that anyone with eyes could see it.

"Director, you're joking. My personality isn't really suited for playing a villain." Villain roles were numerous, requiring night shoots in the neighborhood due to the plot. Han Fei's focus was still on the game. Surviving was the top priority.

After speaking to the director, he looked at Zhan Lele again, with a very gentle expression, "You're probably more used to doing variety shows, so it's hard to change styles immediately. I know quite a bit about the human-body puzzle case from ten years ago, and I can share some information later. It might help you better shape the villain character."

Han Fei's words were very tactful. Although everyone could see that Zhan Lele's acting was subpar, Han Fei did not mock him. He subtly revealed that he wasn't looking to take the role while kindly offering help for Zhan Lele to excel in his part.

At this moment, Zhan Lele was completely sober from his drunken state. Looking at Han Fei, he seemed to radiate a holy light: "Did I just meet an angel? A breath of fresh air in the entertainment industry!"

Not greedy for roles, nor self-centered, even though his acting skills were frighteningly good, he remained humble and willing to help others. Who wouldn't like such a colleague?

Seeing Han Fei then, the on-site staff was very puzzled. Why had his previous company dismissed such a good person?

Han Fei didn't waste any time. Based on his experience, he clearly pointed out several areas that Zhan Lele needed to adjust.

Playing a villain didn't need to be so neurotic. Overworking the part could easily backfire. Director Jiang fully agreed with Han Fei's advice.

After the group exchanged for a while, although Zhan Lele's performance still fell far short of Han Fei, at least it was no longer awkward.

Standing quietly to the side, Han Fei was merely a small supporting role now. He also knew that if he played the villain, the effect would be better, but now wasn't the time to step to the center stage.

Through the window in the corridor, Han Fei looked across the street at the old neighborhood where the former company's series, Urban Secret Love, was currently filming. The studio attendant said that the second male lead of this drama was the person who previously took his role at the company.

If it were the old Han Fei, even knowing these things, he would be powerless to change it. In the current era, it's very difficult for individuals to fight against companies.

However, after acquiring the Healing-type Game, Han Fei changed his original thoughts. Teetering between life and death had gradually strengthened his inner self.

"Nothing is impossible in this world," he thought.

Turning his head to watch Zhan Lele performing diligently, Han Fei's expression remained calm. He could see the limitations in Zhan Lele's performance; the gap in acting skills was just too vast compared to his.

Some people's acting was pure talent, some honed theirs through extensive practice, but Han Fei's acting was a gift given by life and death.

A single shot, no NGs. If he acted poorly, he'd die on the spot.

Zhan Lele's first scene wasn't cleared until the afternoon. The second scene was supported by Han Fei's performance, coupled with Director Jiang intentionally focusing the camera on Han Fei, leaving Zhan Lele with few scenes. Thus, it only took two takes to pass.

As the sky darkened, Han Fei, having finished filming all the scenes for Wei Youfu in one go, prepared to leave.

Just then, a fairly decent car stopped by the roadside, and the exhausted Zhan Lele came out with his agent.

"Director Jiang is known for being temperamental in this industry. Thank you for helping Lele out today." The agent held a gift box and tried to hand it to Han Fei. "What should I call you, Teacher?"

"My name's Han Fei."

"Teacher Han, we hope you can continue to support Lele. Our company values him highly. After your guidance today, he improved rapidly." The agent truly saw Zhan Lele's acting progress and came running over.

"I didn't guide him, just mutual assistance," Han Fei declined the gift box, merely waving his hand. He was still mentally deducing who the icebox murder case's killer was.

"Teacher Han, I really need to thank you today. I was too drunk last night, and such things definitely won't happen again in the future." Zhan Lele was a little younger than Han Fei. His personality was lively, really more suited for variety shows than acting. Perhaps he could try being a comedian, though Han Fei would never actually say that out loud.
