She turned to look at Lena Lynch: "When you raise animals for meat, do you expect them to thank you?"
It seemed she wasn't planning to hide that she was Seraphina Redgrave.

Lena looked at Seraphina, her gaze growing increasingly tender: "Seraphina, you can't think that way. Those poultry, even if left in the wild, they might survive, but what about children? Can they survive?"

Human infants are too fragile; they can't survive if left outside.
Seraphina stared at Lena, wondering why she hadn't noticed before how glib her foster mother was.
"No matter how heartless you are, you must know that the only reason you're alive today is because the Redgrave Family didn't leave your body out in the wilderness." Lena pointed at Seraphina, emphasizing each word.
