Chapter 3 - The Demon Slayer Club

"Teacher, how much further is it?" Carl drove the car according to Steven's directions. Steven pointed to a tall building that was not far away, leaving Carl and Emily stunned.

"Wow, that's a very expensive apartment. Are there still houses near there?" Carl spoke casually as he turned the car through the entrance gate to the apartment. Steven patted Carl on the shoulder.

"We've already passed it. You should have entered through the gate earlier." Steven pointed to the access gate leading into the apartment complex. At that moment, the three people in the car looked at each other in surprise. They hadn't expected it—Steven always dressed simply every day, but it turned out he was a very wealthy person.

The car entered after Steven showed his access card to the guard. They took the lift together and entered Steven's apartment unit, where they saw that Steven's home was extremely luxurious.

"Do you live here alone?" Carl sat comfortably on the plush sofa, similar to the one used only for receiving important guests at his own home.

"My parents are divorced, and they both live abroad, in different countries." Steven sighed as he took food from the refrigerator. The young children, Steven wasn't sure they could follow the lessons seriously.

The system ball sensed Steven's doubt and spoke,

"You weren't always this good either. Everyone needs a process! You're helped by your past experiences, but they know nothing about demons." Steven nodded because what the system ball said was true.

"Oh yeah, since we've formed a group, how about we give this team a name?" Carl said enthusiastically. Steven came from behind and placed the pizza, which had been warmed in the microwave, on the table.

"You idiot! You can't even do anything yet, but you're already busy naming the team." Steven sat down. Carl laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of his head.

"Ha ha… I'm just very excited!" he said. Steven fell silent, his brow furrowed as he thought deeply. Everyone fell silent, carefully watching Steven—curious about what he was thinking so intensely.

"What about the White Tiger Club?" Steven finally spoke, making everyone laugh.

"So you've been busy thinking about the club's name? I thought there was something urgent you were thinking about." Emily said, and Steven remained silent in response.

"Hm, that club name is too common. How about the Flame Spear Club?" Carl said enthusiastically. He felt hungry, saw the food in front of him, and decided to take some to fill his stomach first. Delicious!

"We're a demon-hunting club, so we should use a scarier name, right? How about the 'God's Eye Club'?" Emely said, and the silver-haired man thought hard before finally chiming in,

"Yeah, that's cool! But what if we change it to the 'Underworld God's Eye Club'? That sounds more fitting for a demon-hunting club like ours." The man said enthusiastically.

Carl, who was eating, now noticed the man. The person who had been silent since the beginning of the trip; they hadn't even introduced their names to each other yet.

"Hey, you're from another class, aren't you? We haven't even gotten to know you at all since the beginning!" Carl said, making the others realise that.

"Ah, right! I've seen you at the sports club, but I don't know your name either." Emely said. Now everyone was looking at the silver-haired man, which made him feel a bit awkward, so he finally introduced himself.

"My name is Axel. I'm a member of the running club. I'm in my second year!" he said, introducing himself.

"Alright, so it's decided. The name of our club is the Underworld God's Eye Club!" Steven made the final decision. Everyone was satisfied and clapped their hands, eager because soon they would be training to kill the demons with their own hands.

...

It was already nighttime, and Steven locked all the doors and windows for security. He returned to the living room and found his three students already seated on yoga mats, ready to begin their spiritual eye-opening exercise.

"You know, demons aren't as simple as you think. They are skilled at manipulation, disguise, and blending into your environment." Steven walked slowly around the three of them, step by step, continuing to speak,

"Therefore, it is important for you to practise opening your inner eyes so that you are not deceived and can find them among the millions of people you encounter," Steven added.

"But teacher, aren't demons already clearly defined? Big, ugly, and terrifying like the one we encountered back then?" Carl interrupted.

"What you saw back then was a Level 2 demon. Demons of Level 2 and below can only emerge at night and cannot change form to disguise themselves. Demons of Level 3 and above, however, can disguise themselves as animals, objects, or even humans. It all depends on their level of power." Steven explained.

"And to level up, they usually hunt!"

"In the darkness of night, they come out, seeking weak lone individuals. And when they consume them, their level rises and they become stronger!" he added.

Everyone who heard this realised the issue was more serious than they had thought. They looked at each other, thinking the demons had truly come and were sneaking in to destroy humanity.

"Then, how do we detect their presence?" Axel asked.

"Tonight we will begin training to open our inner eyes. Through this training, your deepest intuition will gradually open up. The more you practise, the sharper your intuition will become."

"We see the demons through our intuition. For example, after several training sessions and opening my intuition, I can sense the demons through their aura. The higher the level of the disguised demon, the colder their aura will feel."

"Each of you may have different ways of sensing that intuition. After this first exercise is finished, you can go to a crowded place and sense what you feel has changed." Steven finished explaining, now sitting cross-legged in front of them, guiding the three of them to focus and look into the deepest parts of their souls.

"Today… our first exercise will begin!"
