Alice struggled as Jack's arm tightened around her throat, her body lifted slightly off the ground. His grip was unrelenting, the veins in his forearm flexing as he held her still. The cold gleam in his eyes told her there was no mercy to be found.
"Rooaaar!" Nemesis roared with primal rage, the metallic echo of his voice shaking the walls around them. He turned toward Jack, massive fists clenching. His instincts screamed to attack, but the sight of Alice in danger made him hesitate.
"Let her go!" Carlos shouted, raising his rifle and aiming straight at Jack's head.
Jack didn't even flinch. A slow grin crept across his face. "Hehe… and if I don't?" he mocked, his tone playful yet venomous. He tilted his head and deliberately rubbed his cheek against Alice's face, as if to provoke everyone watching.
"Don't touch me," Alice hissed, her voice trembling with fury and disgust.
Jill Valentine's expression was tight and focused, her voice calm but filled with tension. "Jack, why are you doing this?" she demanded.
Jack's smirk widened, his eyes flashing with amusement. "Why? You really want to know why? Because I can. Because I want to. Do I need a reason for everything? If you want to get out of here alive, you'll have to defeat me — the great one."
Teri Morales shook her head in disbelief, her voice cracking. "Jack… you've changed. You're not the man I knew. You're not like this."
Jack's expression darkened. "Teri, this is who I am. The person you trust most is always the one who betrays you when it matters most."
Teri's eyes filled with tears. "No. I don't believe that. You're not this kind of person. You can't be."
"Girl, face reality," L.J. muttered from behind cover. "Your buddy here's turned into the final boss."
"Put… her… down," came a low, guttural voice. Everyone turned — it was Nemesis. The mutated creature's throat rumbled as he spoke, words breaking through layers of growl and rage.
Jack raised his eyebrows in mock surprise. "Yo, you can talk? How touching." His grin turned sinister. "But come on, big guy. You're already a monster. You don't need to play human anymore. Just keep doing what you do best."
"Rooaaar!" Nemesis's roar thundered across the facility, rattling loose debris from the ceiling.
"Don't get so worked up," Jack taunted. "If you really unleash your anger, you might just kill this woman first." He looked down at Alice, tightening his grip on her neck. "Now that would be entertaining."
Alice gasped and kicked, her nails clawing at Jack's arm. Her vision blurred as oxygen slipped away.
"Mmff…!" she managed to choke out, her voice fading.
"Roaaaar!" Nemesis howled again, fury tearing through him. "I'll tear you apart!"
Bang!
Carlos fired. The bullet whizzed through the air — and froze. Just one meter before reaching Jack, it stopped in midair as if time itself had halted.
Jack's smile vanished. His eyes turned cold. "Disobedient," he muttered.
Then, with a flick of his finger, the bullet reversed direction — faster than before.
Bang!
It slammed into Carlos's rifle, punched through the metal, and buried itself in his shoulder.
"Ahhh!" Carlos screamed, dropping to one knee as blood poured between his fingers.
Alice's face turned pale, her breath shallow. Jack didn't loosen his grip. His eyes were locked on Nemesis.
The creature's rage reached its limit. His body began to tremble — no, mutate. His flesh rippled and bubbled grotesquely, veins crawling like serpents beneath his skin.
Jack tilted his head, releasing Alice and stepping back a little, smirking. "Ah, two mutations in one day. Lovely."
Alice collapsed, coughing violently and clutching her throat. "Cough—cough—Matt… Matt!"
"Roaaaar!" Nemesis screamed toward the ceiling as his body expanded grotesquely. Bone spikes erupted from his spine, tearing through the remnants of his coat. One arm split into three writhing tentacles; his mouth widened, rows of sharp teeth spilling out. His eyes turned completely blood-red — human emotion, gone forever.
"Matt!" Alice shouted, voice shaking. "What did you do to him?!"
Jack shrugged casually, hands sliding into his coat pockets. "Not my doing. That was his choice. You should be proud — he's truly magnificent now."
Nemesis's transformation ended. He stood towering over everyone, his massive form casting a monstrous shadow.
"The man is gone," Jack said softly, almost reverently. "All that's left is the monster."
Alice's face twisted with grief and fury. "You bastard. I'll kill you for this, Jack. I swear I will!"
Jack crouched in front of her, smirking. "You? Kill me? Please. You're as weak as an insect right now. And besides… I can't let you die, sweetheart. You're the female lead. If you die, the Resident Evil series ends right here. No plot, no drama."
He lightly patted her cheek, and she jerked her face away in disgust, trying to strike him, but her arm barely moved.
"Rooaaar!" Nemesis bellowed, rage shaking the ground. "Tear you apart!"
Jack rose slowly, facing the creature. "Even without reason, you still remember me, huh? Touching."
Three glistening tentacles shot toward him — fast as whips.
But Jack moved faster. His body blurred, slipping past them with inhuman speed. The tentacles slammed into the concrete, cracking the ground and leaving three deep craters.
"Nice upgrade," Jack said with a grin. "Let's see what you've got."
Nemesis swung his mutated arm, smashing through the debris. Jack dodged again, the movement effortless, almost graceful.
"For a giant, you move surprisingly fast," Jack taunted. "That actually makes me happy."
Bang!
Jack jumped forward, slamming his fist into Nemesis's chest.
The impact echoed like an explosion.
"Rooaaar!" Nemesis roared in pain, his massive frame crashing backward and shattering the ground beneath him.
L.J. gaped. "Holy hell… that dude's strength is insane!"
Jack stepped forward through the dust, his coat fluttering behind him. "Rest easy, big guy. You've served your purpose. I'll make good use of your remaining value."
Nemesis answered with another furious bellow. He swung a massive fist, the force alone tearing through the air.
Jack crossed his arms in front of him to block.
The collision created a shockwave. Jack was sent flying — smashing through several steel poles before slamming into a concrete wall. Dust and shards rained down around him.
For a moment, there was silence.
Then, Jack laughed — low and dark. He stepped out of the debris, brushing dust from his coat. "Heh. Not bad," he said, cracking his neck. "You actually managed to hit me."
Nemesis roared again, stomping forward.
Jack raised a hand, his expression shifting from amusement to something more sinister. "Alright then. Let's end this."
The air seemed to change — heavy and electric. The ground beneath Jack's feet cracked slightly, as if something immense was stirring within him. His eyes glowed faintly, a deep crimson light pulsing with every heartbeat.
He vanished.
In the blink of an eye, Jack was in front of Nemesis, his fist driving straight into the creature's gut.
The blow was devastating. Nemesis staggered backward, his roar breaking into a wet, gurgling sound. Jack followed through, slamming another punch into his jaw, sending the monster crashing into the side of the facility wall.
Metal screamed. Concrete shattered.
Alice watched from the ground, gasping in shock. She'd seen strength before — but not like this. Jack wasn't just human anymore.
He was something else.
Jill gritted her teeth. "If we don't stop him now, no one will."
Carlos, bleeding but still conscious, forced himself to raise his weapon. "We… we have to try."
Nemesis staggered up again, howling, swinging wildly in a blind fury. Jack smiled, dodging every strike like a shadow.
"This is what I live for," he said softly. "The chaos. The power. The fun."
He drove one final blow straight through Nemesis's chest. The impact burst out through the creature's back, blood and tissue spraying across the wall.
Nemesis shuddered, his roar fading into a hollow gasp.
Jack pulled his hand free and stepped back, watching the massive body collapse with a thundering crash.
He exhaled slowly, glancing at the others. "And that's that."
Alice's eyes burned with rage, even as she struggled to stand. "You… monster."
Jack tilted his head, smiling faintly. "Monster? Maybe. But remember — monsters are just the next step after humans stop pretending to be good."
He turned, his coat fluttering in the wind as alarms began to wail throughout the facility.
"See you in the next chapter, heroine," he said without looking back.
And with that, he disappeared into the smoke.
The others stood in silence, staring at the ruin left behind. The air was thick with dust and blood, the faint hum of collapsing metal echoing through the corridors.
Alice clenched her fists, her voice trembling but fierce. "Jack… I'll find you. And next time — you won't walk away."
The camera might as well have panned out right then — the battlefield still, the heroes broken but alive.
Somewhere in the distance, faint laughter echoed.
