Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 Thieves in the Night

Choose between his arm or me!

The old man's expression turned grave. The killing intent mixed with terrifying coldness intensified as he looked at Lucas. "His arm is bleeding profusely and the shoulder joints have snapped, so unless you can get him to a Healer in the next 15 minutes, I suggest you call an Amputator".

"That is, unless you have at least an E rank Healer, still, you can always chase me and disregard him if you want". Lucas said with a wide grin. He the made his move and rushed into an alleyway disappearing from the sights of everyone present. The old man gnashed his teeth as he watched Lucas escape. However he regarded his young master as someone more important.

Lucas was very calculative when he had involved himself in the situation. As the one who decided to help the little girl and her older sister, how could he just stand by when he saw both of then about to be killed. Naturally, he didn't do it out of the goodness of his heart or any crap like that.

He, as the one and only former ARK 1 of earth causally killed people out of boredom, however he never killed innocent young women and children. That was his bottom line. Furthermore he was not the same as he was before. He was in someone else's body and had to respond to the persons emotions. It would take a while before he could go back to being that heartless killer he once was.

Although he appeared very casual, he didn't doubt that that old mans strength was far superior to his. So in order to make sure he would escape, he put the Katsuragi disciples arm on the brink of destruction to buy himself time to escape. Unless the Katsuragi clan had a healer above the soul lining grade, they would be unable to save him from amputation if they didn't do something in time.

The old man on the scene clenched his fists. He had never been placed in such a situation. At this point, he knew that he would never hear the end of this from his young masters father, his eldest master. On top of that, he would no doubt be severely punished.

........

Seeing that he wasn't being followed, Lucas went around in circles all over the city to make sure he was clear of anyone tracing him. Even after that, he didn't return until night fell.

"Staying without a background is dangerous, my strength hasn't gotten to the level I can be on my own. Looks like the sun clan will have to be my target for the meantime".

Lucas kept replaying the info about the sun clan in his head. To him, unless insanely strong competitors emerged, He was confident in his own strength to clear out the competition.

In this world, the law of the jungle reigned supreme and the strongest ruled.

The first grade of any martial cultivator was the dawn tier grade. The dawn tier grade was mainly the first grade whereby each level in within the grade would grant an extra increase in strength, speed and stamina. The strength in within each stage was negligible as long as one had the skills to back it up, the first grade which was the dawn tier grade had a total of 15 stages.

After entering level 15, they would be able to consolidate their core energy to spatial powers in order to break through to the soul lining grade where they would get their own spatial class. Like the dawn tier grade, the soul lining grade had a total of 15 levels as well, however in the soul lining grade, the increase in strength wasn't related to the human body, but to the Mutant cells in the body

What are mutant cells? Mutant cells were developed in the body the moment someone steps into the soul lining stage. The mutant cells where the amplified cells that would power the spatial classes its user obtained. The higher the number of mutant cells or Mc cells, the higher the users spatial class strength.

If the dawn tier grade strengthened the body, then the Soul lining grade would improve the Mutant cells. For example, a Fire manipulator with high Mutant cells would have the strength of his flaming prowess increase and an archer type spatial class would have accurate aim and stronger skills with the increase in the Mutant cells. However, unlike the Dawn tier grade where the increase in strength wasn't too absurd, the soul lining stage increase in ability prowess would be close to earth shattering with each level.

However, the increase in physical strength and speed as well as fighting ability would depend on the person from then on. After the soul lining grade would come the Ranked grades.

..........

Lucas was deep in thought as he walked stealthily, it would have been really convenient if he could go back to the Graymoore family, however, that wasn't an option for now.

"There's the inn am staying at". Lucas finally saw the inn he had paid to sleep in. Tomorrow would be the day where the sun clan would hold their martial contest, with his current strength, it shouldn't be hard to get in. However he soon stopped as he noticed something wasn't quite right.

"Why do I feel, slightly uneasy?" Lucas was stumped as he instantly became vigilant. Looking at his surroundings, he became wary and soon noticed that things weren't so simple.

"There are people watching the inn!"

Lucas suddenly realized the reason why he felt a sudden sense of danger in the area. Upon taking a closer look, he could see in an alley across the street, a dark silhouette was trying to blend in against the wall as it stared intently at the inn. Not only that, his gaze led directly to the window of Lucas's room on the second floor.

"Hump, there is an actual thief stalking the inn, moreover, it looks like he is after me. How did I get into trouble with a thief? Wait a minute.... Its not one, its actually two thieves!"

Thieves were common people in Blackburn city, that was mainly the reason why the market people gave Lucas a cold shoulder when they saw his clothing that made him look like a bandit. "What mediocre camouflaging technique, they can't even blend into their surroundings well enough for me not to notice even when am not paying attention".

If anyone from his previous life heard what he said right now, they would probably be baffled to the point of falling. The number one expert who could assassinate an elite assassin was actually expecting a petty thief to hide himself well before him. The surroundings were getting dark so the thief wasn't well shrouded in darkness as the sun had just set not too long ago.

Lucas had a cold smile on his face. "Its had been a while since I last killed somebody. Although this body's strength is mediocre, it should be enough to carry out a sneak attack to instantly kill someone".

Lucas disappeared into the alley he came from. The thief in the opposite alley still had his gaze fixed on the inn entrance as well as the window on the upper floor. He was fully clothed in black with two daggers on his belt sheathed. His face was covered with a dark scarf as he stayed in his position slightly yawning. However, he didn't notice the danger that had appeared behind him and was slowly creeping up to him.

"Ugh, so boring, when is this kid gonna show up already? Its been more than four hours, I bet that Scar and Ulan are feeling the same way too". The thief complained as he looked at the inn with a frowning expression.

He had been paid to rob and kill someone as well as his two comrades. His two comrades were currently hiding, surrounding the inn to make sure that their target wouldn't escape. However the target was taking too long to appear.

"I thought i sensed someone looking to kill me".

"Huh" horror dawned on the thief who had his back turned to the alley, his face turned grave as he immediately turned around and stretched his hand to grab a dagger on his belt.

"Looks like there aren't two, but three of you here. I will tell the others you said hi before they join you in the nether realm".
