Chapter 55: Living With ToruAuthor: Geraint
(3rd Person POV)
— Might Tower —
Standing in front of Ichika's home, Toru was visibly anxious. She was about to live with Ichika from now on, and her mind ran wild imagining what could happen under the same roof.
"Let's go. I'll show you around," Ichika said with a smile.
Toru clung to his arm and nodded shyly.
As they climbed the stairs to the luxurious tower of the Number One Hero, excitement mixed with nervousness swirled inside her. Her eyes kept wandering around the dazzling architecture.
Ichika led her through a less obvious route.
"Sorry, Dad and I don't really use the main entrance. We usually take the backdoor to avoid attention."
"Okay…"
Toru quietly followed him.
They entered the elevator, heading for the highest floor. When they arrived at his room:
"Wow! There are so many rooms here!"
"Yeah, but most are empty or just used for storage. The very top floor, behind that huge iron gate, is mine and Dad's. Only All Might and I can access it."
"Eh? Then what's this room? You said it's yours," Toru asked, pointing.
"It is, but technically it's my workshop. Inside, there's a guest room you can use for now. I'll fix up a proper room for you later."
"Sorry for the trouble."
When Ichika opened the door, they found two girls playing computer games.
"Manami-chan! On the right! Shoot him—he's only using a rifle!"
"Affirmative."
Bang!
La Brava scored a headshot.
"Nice! Headshot!"
They high-fived in celebration.
Toru stared in surprise until Ichika spoke up:
"Are you winning, daughter!?"
Roboco froze mid-motion. La Brava also stiffened as they glanced at him.
"Father! Welcome back!"
"Lord Vader—Huh? Who's that girl with you?"
Ichika frowned at them.
"Did either of you finish any work today?"
Both girls looked away, clearly guilty.
"Hecker… Roboco…"
"Please stop calling me Hecker!" La Brava groaned.
Ichika and Toru walked in. Toru leaned toward him and asked quietly,
"Um… Ichika-kun, who are these girls?"
He sighed, realizing he needed to clear things up.
"This girl with the twin-tails is Manami Aiba. I call her Hecker, and she works for me."
"I told you—stop calling me that! Just say La Brava!"
Roboco smiled and bowed politely.
"Hello, Toru-sama. My name is Yagi Roboco."
Toru's eyes lit up. "Yagi? So you're Ichika's big sis—"
"No, I'm his daughter."
Toru froze.
"A daughter? What's the meaning of this, Ichika-kun?!"
She looked heartbroken. Ichika chuckled at her reaction.
"Think, Toru. Do you really believe I could have a child this big at my age?"
"..."
"Let me introduce—no, behold! My greatest invention: Roboco! She's a robot."
"Nice to meet you, Toru-sama."
Roboco bowed again.
Toru was shocked by how human Roboco seemed. Embarrassed, she bowed back.
"Nice to meet you too. From now on, I'll be in your care."
"Okay, I'll go prepare your room."
"Thank you."
"For now, you can use the bedroom in my workshop," Ichika said, opening the door. "I usually use it when I'm too lazy to head upstairs."
Inside was a clean bed and private bathroom.
"If you need anything, just ask me or Roboco."
"Thank you so much, Ichika-kun. I'm really grateful."
"No problem. We're friends—we help each other out."
As Ichika turned to leave,
"I'm making dinner. I'll call you when it's ready."
"Yes…"
Ichika left and headed to the kitchen.
Now alone, Toru took in her surroundings. The room was four times larger than her old apartment, with a high-tech air conditioner and a breathtaking view of Tokyo from the massive glass window.
"It's beautiful… Ichika must see this every day."
She wandered into the bathroom.
"Whoa!"
It had a small pool, a shower, and a separate toilet cubicle.
"I don't think I'll ever get used to this…"
She returned to the bed. Curious about Ichika's scent, she lay down and hugged the pillow.
"It smells nice… Ahh, Ichika-kun~ <3"
"I apologize for the sudden intrusion, Toru-sama. I just changed the sheets, so there's no lingering scent of Father on that bed."
"Gyaaah!"
Roboco had appeared carrying a clean blanket, towel, and clothes.
"Here's your blanket and bath towel. I also brought you some of my clothes."
"T-Thank you…"
Toru blushed deeply.
"Roboco… are you really a robot?"
Roboco just smiled.
"Maybe… maybe not. It's up to you how you treat me."
"..."
"Anyway, Father will finish dinner soon. You should wait in the kitchen."
"Okay…"
Toru followed her to join the others for dinner. After eating and showering, she headed to bed.
An hour before midnight
Toru was still wide awake.
"Ugh… I can't sleep…"
She got up and peeked out the window, marveling at the night skyline. Then she noticed light under the workshop door.
Curious, she tiptoed over and peeked inside.
Ichika was dozing off at his desk, a complex schematic glowing on his monitor. La Brava lay asleep on the couch, wrapped in a blanket, while Roboco sat in the corner, plugged into an outlet like she was charging.
Quietly, Toru entered the workshop and placed a blanket over Ichika.
"No wonder you're always sleepy in class," she whispered with a giggle, pinching his cheek gently.
