Hearing Adrian Morgan's gentle tone on the other end of the line, Vera couldn't help but shiver. 'He might actually be serious about me.'
"Um… I'm a little busy right now. Why don't you just bring them back later? I'll have to skip dinner."
Vera said, trying to decline. She knew exactly why Adrian was asking her to dinner.
She couldn't agree to that, so she had to find an excuse to deflect.
Adrian's expression faltered when he heard her reply, but he didn't press the issue. 'This sort of thing can't be rushed. If I want to win Vera's heart, I have to win her over with my actions.'
"Okay, I understand. You focus on what you need to do. Don't worry about Luke and Zola. I'll bring them home safely after we're done."
"Okay. Thank you."
After he hung up, Luke and Zola complained, looking a little disappointed.
"What happened, Adrian? Isn't Mom eating with us?"
"Yeah! You should ask her again. Wouldn't it be nice if we all went home together after dinner?"
