The next morning, Vera Warner woke up feeling groggy. 'Looks like oversleeping isn't all it's cracked up to be,' she thought.
Just then, Victor Morgan approached, carrying a bowl of porridge. He spoke gently.
"You're awake. Have some porridge. Are you feeling unwell?"
Looking at the gentle, considerate man before her, Vera Warner broke into a happy smile.
"Okay. I feel fine now. I can go to work today."
"There's no need. Just rest at home today. Wait until you've had a couple of days to recover before going back to work. Besides, there's nothing major happening at your company right now."
Victor Morgan didn't ask Vera what had happened between her and Adrian Morgan at the hotel. Since she didn't want to talk about it, he wasn't going to press her.
"Mm-hmm."
Vera decided to forget about yesterday. 'Maybe it was just a joke on Adrian's part,' she thought. 'I don't even know how I'm supposed to face him now.'
