Chapter 72 - Hero

Sun Wukong, the Great Victorious Buddha and the Great Sage Equaling Heaven, had to hold himself back from sighing as he flew through the skies on his golden cloud. He was ordered by that pompous prick Indra to go and search for something was causing the deaths of Yaoguai, the malevolent spirits of China, around the area he had dominion over. Something about the people in the Jade court coming to complain to him but not wanting to deal with it himself, the old monkey had to wonder why he actually joined that damn thunder head.

Oh yeah, he had gotten drunk with him and then they had thrown some nasty curses they picked from the land of asuras to that Jade Emperor prick. And then they had fought together against the Jade asshole when the blowhard tried to bring 'judgement' upon them. Man he missed the good old days.

Now Indra was just all about sitting in a corner and try to make plans to defeat Shiva. The sentence alone gave the Monkey King a migraine. Even at his dumbest, he wouldn't pick a fight with Shiva but for some reason; Indra was just stuck on that idea. And ever since he would send him to these stupid missions as a revenge for the time he told the god of lightning that his idea was stupid. Petty asshole.

Oh well, it wasn't like he didn't like having a reason to go out. It was certainly better than dealing with his bratty and disrespectful descendants. He had thought that the next generation was supposed to surpass the last one, yet none of his descendants managed to even reach his strength; only his disrespectfulness.

As he directed his cloud while grumbling, Sun Wukong finally felt something. A very negative energy coming from the west. About time, in a remote area like this everywhere should be brimming with Yaoguai yet this was the first one he was sensing. A way to get closer to his objective in front of him, Wukong commanded his cloud to go faster and within a blink of an eye; he had found the Yaoguai.

It looked like a bear, one about twice the size of a normal one at least. He believed that the people of Japan called this kind of beast an Onikuma? Rather unimaginative in his opinion but this land had no name for them so he wasn't exactly in a position to judge. Not that something as small and insignificant as moral high ground had ever stopped him.

What was more interesting than the bear was that it wasn't alone. No, instead it was right in front of a rather young boy with no shirt but he had the leg of a goat in his hand. The blood on it implied that the boy had killed it with his bare hands. Rather impressive, for a human. But it wouldn't help against the bear.

It felt like it was somewhere around middle class, as loathe he was to use the ridiculous system the devils had created. Completely unimpressive when one knew exactly how high the bar was in the supernatural world, but definitely a threat a human child could not deal by themselves.

So with the intention of his good deed for the day, Wukong prepared a small amount of chi on the tip of his finger. Intending to use to kill the monster the moment it got somewhat close to the boy in order to have a cool moment.

Except he didn't get the chance as the moment the bear let out a roar, the boy dropped the goat in his hand and jumped at the monstrous ursidae and grabbed it by it's jaw before using his legs to twist himself in the air; the bear's head following the motion, causing an ominous crack to be heard.

This… this was not normal, right? Granted, as a being born literally from stone and wind, he didn't exactly have the right to judge if something was normal or not but he was pretty sure small children shouldn't be strong enough to snap the neck of a bear monster.

Had… had he just found the reason for the lack of Yaoguai around the area? What kind of shonen anime bullshit was this?!

No… no this was good. This was fine. This meant that he had completed his mission, cough errand cough, and he could just go back.

Yeah, just go back… like hell he would do that!

"Hey kid." He greeted with a smile as he jumped down from his cloud to the front of the kid who was picking his goat corpse back up.

"That was quite impressive." He said as he got closer to the kid, he was rather muscular. Lean but hardened, the build of a man who worked hard and fought harder. It was rather bizarre to see it on a kid though.

"Who are you?" The kid asked with a tilt of his head and Sun Wukong simply lit his pipe.

"Doesn't matter, you are more interesting. Not everyday one gets to see a kid kill something that big." The Monkey King said with a smile, wondering if his newest descendant could have won against the bear.

"It wanted my food." the kid merely shrugged and the old monkey had to hold himself back from laughing.

"Don't think a kid should be worrying about food, shouldn't that be the job of the parent?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Mine tried to sell me, so I punched them and left." Sun Wukong wasn't sure which was worse, the context of what the kid had just said or the completely nonchalant way he said it.

"…why fight barehanded?" The great Sage blatantly changed the uncomfortable subject as he looked at the monster's carcass while the kid shrugged.

"It was weak, using a weapon would have just felt like bullying."

"You sure that it wasn't simply that you didn't have a weapon?" The monkey king raised an unimpressed eyebrow, the kid was starting to sound like a 'young master' from Bikou's stupid novels.

"I do have a weapon though." The kid said and the a light started to shine in his hand before subsiding and revealing a beautiful spear with a blue shaft and a gleaming silver blade on the top of it with some golden decorations on its sides.

But Sun Wukong didn't care about how beautiful the spear looked, he was far more concerned about the ridiculous holy aura coming from it. There was only one spear in all existence that could feel this holy and be in the hands of a human.

"Are you shitting me?" He muttered as he felt his shades slide off of his face in shock.

What were the fucking chances of a random chore from Indra leading him to the new owner of True Longinus?!
