Chapter 136 - Ring Doppelganger(Shield Hero/Overlord)-5

First meeting with Naofumi, success.

The way the conversation went hadn't been what I had imagined, like his emotional breakdown, but I would like to think that I made a pretty good impression of the Cardinal Hero of the Shield; especially with what I gave to him.

Scarletite, also known as Hihi'irokane, one of the seven prismatic ores in YGGDRASIL. A material that was harder than Adamantite and had a very high synergy with fire based magics, enchantments and skills. I didn't know what kind of shield Naofumi would get from it but it had to be a damn powerful one, maybe even powerful enough that he wouldn't need to rely on something as risky as curse series.

But this decision of mine left me with a small problem, Naofumi getting too strong too fast. His status as the Shield Hero meant that there were far too many eyes on him, some of which I had blinded myself. One of the reasons Naofumi had been able to come out as the winner with the whole Church debacle was that they underestimated him too much, otherwise they probably would have actually tried killing him; religious morons not even thinking about the fact that his existence as a hero was essential to the world.

I would like to think that I had impressed the notion of people realizing him being stronger than they want being dangerous but Naofumi was angry and vengeful, both traits that were heightened due to his curse series and made him somewhat unstable. He might have first activated the Shield of Wrath against the Zombie Dragon Lord, but it had been affecting him since his trial.

Getting off point, what the problem was that I had little to no idea how the morons of this world would act if Naofumi showed his strength in an undeniable way. I guessed that the possibility wasn't that high though, the people of this world were supposed to be very good at being in denial after all.

"Ok, what do I know?" I asked myself as I massaged my temples. There were three things that required and was worth my attention.

Number one: Raphtalia's childhood friends were still under the roof of the fat noble who might be interested in kids in a far different way. Not sure whether... what was it... Rifana! Yes, whether Rifana was still alive but Keel the dog-girl who believed herself to be a dog-boi was supposed to survive till Raphtalia was supposed to beat up the fat noble.

Number two: The Hero of the Sword was going to be tricked by some dumb villagers into killing a peaceful, probably, dragon in order for them to steal the dragon's treasures and sell his adopted daughter as a slave. The dragon was supposed to be some sort of dragon emperor, meaning that he might know of a way for the people of this world to go over level hundred. But that probably didn't happen until after the first wave, so I could leave it alone for now.

Number three: There was a female knight locked in the castle for daring to go against the king when the trash allowed the nobles to raid Raphtalia's village and sell the citizens as slaves. She was supposedly stronger than most people and had a deep sense of honor, not to mention she was the daughter of the lord who used to rule over the region Raphtalia and her family used to live. She was not supposed to be on any danger but if Naofumi showed his strength then they might do something stupid in order to make sure she wouldn't be able to help him.

Whelp, seems like my next course of action was set.

————————

How long had it been? Definitely more than a month, she wasn't sure if it had been two yet.

Eclair Seaetto still had a hard time believing her the events that had led to her current captivity in the castle's dungeons. After her father had been killed by the wave, she had went to the capital in his stead in order to act on the orders of her majesty; queen Mirellia.

Yet not only had she, and the orders given by the queen, been ignored by the King; he even decided to go explicitly against them! Ordering for the preparations for summoning all of the four cardinal heroes to begin immediately, was he trying to start a war in this current situation?!

When she had voiced her disagreement, along with calling the king out on his gross abuse of power that he did not truly possess, she was immediately ambushed by the castle knights from the back and awakened in the cell she resided in now.

It wasn't Eclair's place to question the queen, but she had never found herself questioning her decision on marrying Aultcray as much as she did in these last few weeks.

If only she could get out of her chains and find him, then she would…

"That's quite a scary face you're making." Eclair jolted with shock as an unfamiliar voice spoke to her with a teasing tone.

In front of her cell was a man with black hair and orange eyes behind glasses and wearing a magician's robe.

"You should smile a bit more, it would definitely be more pleasant than that frown." He said as he opened the cell and walked in, uncaring of the glare Eclair was giving him.

"I don't know who you are but you can tell the king and church that they will pay for their crimes against the queen." Eclair spat, uncaring of what kind of tortures this man might inflict upon her.

"I guess I can tell them that, not sure why you are telling me to do it though." The man said with a raised eyebrow before raising his hand and a magic circle appeared on his palm. "Magic Destruction." He said and the chains keeping her on the wall broke and Eclair fell to the ground with a bewildered expression, not understanding what was happening.

"Now then, shall I save you; Eclair Seaetto?" The man asked with a teasing tone and grabbed her arm before she could say anything.

"Greater Teleportation." And then they disappeared from the cell.
