Stepping back into the Web I removed my mask.
A smile on my face.
Delighted that not only the web-shooters worked as intended, and I didn't end up as a Spider-pancake, but also due to the fact I managed to pull of my first superhero rescue without any issues whatsoever.
Even if did happen by random chance.
Still, it felt good saving that ordinary man just trying to live his life.
Now I understand even more wht Spider-Man always looks out for his neighborhood first and foremost.
The little guy needs guardian angels as well.
And they just got another one.
Who will only improve with time.
Ideas already racing through my mind on how I could do just that.
*Ring Ring*
Only to be knocked out my head when I heard my phone ringing.
Going over to my bag I took it out and answered it. "Yes, hello?"
"Peter. Can you talk? How did the meeting go?" May asked me.
"Oh it went very well. Nelson & Murdock agreed to represent me in this matter." I happily replied. "Also yes, I can talk. What's up?"
"Nothing. Just need you to bring some eggs home." May said.
"No problem." I replied.
I then chatted with May for a few more minutes before hanging up the phone.
I then decided to call it a day.
Picking up the eggs of course before web-slinging my way home.
Definitely sure I'm already addicted to it.
***
The next morning I got up bright and early.
Still basking in the glow of my first Spidey suit up.
Though I'm making sure it doesn't go to my bed.
For arrogance and hubris has been the downfall of many a great individuals.
And I will not be one of them.
On that note I still used my phone to check news site and social media to see if anyone was mentioning me in any capacity.
Especially since unlike a normal Peter Parker, who simply let the media create their own narrative regarding him most of the time *JamesonandDailyBugle*, I have decided to be much more proactive in that regard.
Because even though I know Jameson isn't truly a bad guy, since yes he and the Daily Bugle do exist in this reality, I truly do not want to endure the indignitiy of him creating a constant smear campaign against me.
Hence why I have already decided to set up my own special Spider-Man media counts.
Look out world #SpideyHero incoming.
All on an untraceable phone mind you.
Because again, until I am ready, barring the most extreme circumstances, no one will know Peter Parker is Spider-Man.
Looking through the news sites and social media I found nothing about me.
That being the case I put it away and started preparing for my day as usual.
I then went through the same motions for another week.
Until I got a call from Nelson and Murdock telling me they had finished reviewing the contract for my deal with the Fantastic Four.
Telling me the Four aren't try to screw me.
So upon learning this I in turn called the Baxter Building and let them know to get the show on the road.
Signing a copy of the contract and hand delivering it to them.
Then not even half a month later they called me and let me know my first check was ready and waiting.
***
A skip in my step I walked into the Baxter Building.
Here today to pick up the first, of what I'm certain will be, many royalty checks.
Entering the lobby I saw HERBIE and Susan standing and waiting.
"Good morning you two." I said upon reaching them.
"Good morning Peter." Susan replied.
"Yes. Good morning." HEEBIE added.
Once we exchanged pleasantries Susan then handed me an envelope.
"Your first royalty check." She spoke.
"Thank you." I replied. Opening the envelope and taking out the check
Going slightly bug-eyed, pun intended, when I saw the amount written on it.
Three-hundred thousand dollars.
"This is...Wow." I mused. Looking at Susan and HERBIE. "I mean. All this is really mine?"
"It is." HERBIE replied.
"Yes Peter. All yours. As per our agreement."
"But the Medi-Gel hasn't even gone on the market yet." I said. Leading me wonder why the first royalty check was so big.
"That money is coming from the pre-orders we are getting for your product."Susan explained. "And they will only get bigger."
"I see." I replied.
Still a bit dazed as I bid farewells to Susan and HERBIE and left the Baxter Building.
Where I then made my way to the bank.
Regaining my senses as I deposited the money I earned into my bank account.
Well only 200,000.
The last 100,000 dollars I put into a separate check.
Which I then took home an presented to Uncle Ben and Aunt May.
The both of them looking dazed just as I had earlier.
"Peter, what is this?" May asked.
"Just a bit of the money I've made because of my deal with the Fantastic Four." I explained. "And there's going to be much more where that came from."
"Then why are you giving it to us Peter? You earned this so you should keep it." Uncle Ben spoke.
I then shook my head. "Nope. This is for you guys and I won't take no for an answer. I already put the rest of the money I made from this first royalty check into my account. So I'm good. This is for you guys to use however you want. Pay off the house, go on a vacation, buy some things, I don't care. But I'm not taking it back. You guys always take care of me. You've sacrificed so much. So now it'sy turn to help you. Because as you always say uncle Ben a man takes care of his family. So that's exactly what I'm doing."
Ben and May shared a look with each other, then turned their attention back to me.
"Well if you're sure." May mused.
"I am." I replied.
"Alright then." Ben spoke. "And thank you Peter."
Then before I could say anything else Ben pulled me into a hug.
May immediately getting in on it.
Turning it into a nice family moment.
One I enjoyed without hesitation.
Until the tender moment passed and we all went out separate ways.
Where after I headed to my room to work on a few projects before calling it a day.
Where I found myself woken up early by a phone call.
Reaching for my phone I brought it up to my ear and answered it. "Yes, hello?"
"Hey Pete." The voice of Harry spoke.
"Oh Harry. What's up? Why are you calling me so damn early?" I asked.
"Well the thing is...I was wondering if you could come over to my house today? Well actually my dad is asking." He explained.
All sense of sleepiness leaving me when Harry mentioned his father.
The man with the potential to become Peter Parker's greatest and most deranged adversary in almost every single world where he becomes Spider-Man.
So naturally I immediately put my guard up, and put my mind to work, when I heard old Norman was asking to see me.
"I see. Why?"
"He heard how your deal with the Fantastic Four went through." Harry said. "And wants to congratulate you on it." He spoke.
Trying to hide the bitterness in his voice.
Given how with the original Peter's memories I can see Norman acknowledges me more than his own son at times, ever since the two of us became friends.
That's in part another reason I've been working to avoid going over to Harry's house.
Since I don't want either him or his father to become a Goblin for any reason.
For if that ever becomes the case, depending on how the Goblin is born, my ass will become the Goblin Slayer.
"Okay. But how did he hear about it?" I asked. "Because I just told you and the others just yesterday."
"My dad has his ways Pete." Harry mused. "But that's not important right now. So, are you coming over or not?"
"Yeah. I'll be there." I replied. "Especially since I don't want your dad to kidnap me in broad daylight if I keep ignoring him."
"Hehehe, very funny Pete." Harry chuckled.
Even though my words just now were only partially a joke.
"Thank you, thank you, I'll be here anytime." I said.
The two of us then talked for a few more minutes before we ended the call.
After we did I then began preparing myself to meet thee Norman Osborn.
Damn Parker luck.
