The others ran in, and Yoshino Ara asked
Aizen shook his head, saying regretfully, "He got away."
Naoko Kuroda said, "So, the culprit really is Kaito Kid?"
Kikue Tanaka said, "If it wasn't him, why would he run away instead of staying to cooperate with our investigation? I'm afraid he's guilty and doesn't dare to stay."

Conan shook his head upon hearing this. Kaito Kid's choice to run away doesn't necessarily mean the culprit is Kaito Kid. If he chose to stay, his true identity would be revealed, and regardless of whether he was the culprit or not, he would be caught by the police. So it's not that he didn't want to stay, but that he couldn't stay.
"Aizen, is Kaito Kid really the culprit?
Sonoko Suzuki shook Aizen's arm, unable to believe the result; after all, Kaito Kid was her idol.

Yoshiyuki Ara spoke up, "Mr. Aizen, could it be that the culprit isn't Kaito Kid, but the Escape King or the Shadow Priest, or perhaps one of us?"
"It's not impossible."
Aizen nodded, looking at everyone, and said, "During the time of Mr. Hamano's death, Sonoko, Asami, Ran, Conan, and I stayed in the room, so we five are not suspects. Mr. Ara, Ms. Kuroda, Ms. Tanaka, Mr. Sugama, could you tell me what the four of you were doing during the time of Mr. Hamano's death?
The four exchanged glances upon hearing this, and Yoshinori Ara spoke up: "I think I'll go first. For the first ten minutes or so, Ms. Kuroda and I were in the kitchen preparing some food for the party. After we finished, I went to the wine cellar to get the wine. When I came back in, Mr. Aizen and you were already downstairs."
Kuroda Naoko continued, "At first, I was in the kitchen with Mr. Ara. After coming out of the kitchen, I set out the tableware in the living room with Kaito Kid, and then I went upstairs to call Mr. Aizen and you."
Tanaka Kikue said, "Mr. Sugama and I have been boiling water the whole time. We've stayed there the whole time, and neither of us has left. If you don't believe me, you can go and see if the water is ready."
