The family driver had been waiting in the hotel's parking lot all this time. She got into the car, holding the documents, her expression somewhat blank.
This morning, when Howard Geoffrey left, he told her that he needed to return to "Skytop" to handle some matters. She was initially hesitant about whether to call him and go home with him, but she hadn't expected to encounter him at the "Palace" hotel.
She admitted that the scene she just saw clearly showed Alice Robinson clinging to him while he was indifferent. But why did he come to the hotel to meet Alice Robinson? And when Alice Robinson, with tears in her eyes, hugged him, why didn't he refuse?
A bitter taste crept into her heart.
