Howard Geoffrey chuckled softly, holding his mother's shoulder in a conspiratorial manner, and whispered, "Mom, you'd better not let Becca hear this…"
Mrs. Geoffrey pushed away from Howard, looking stern, "Do you think she's foolish, playing with her feelings like this?"
Seeing his mother truly angry, Howard had to patiently explain, "Mom, things aren't as they seem on the surface, don't you know what kind of person your son is?"
"I just can't figure out, between Alice and Becca, who do you actually like?"
Howard continued smiling faintly, "After all these years, have I ever been with another woman?"
"You mean…"
Howard's gaze shifted upstairs, as if the beautiful figure was still there, and he sincerely and earnestly said, "The one I've always liked is her."
Mrs. Geoffrey immediately breathed a sigh of relief, "At least I don't have to worry that my grandson will have a stepmother in the future."
