I blinked for a second as I struggled to come up with an excuse until I remembered Adonis' words. 'You're a prince now Ezra. You answer to no one but your King. They serve you and you serve the greater purpose for Kommos'.
With a deep inhale, I straightened my spine and challenged Baba. Even though I had no idea he was King, he always seemed to have had authority over him. Maybe that was what I needed. "I don't recall Adonis instructing me to report to you." That was a lot harsher than I expected and I immediately felt terrible. "Sorry. You caught me by surprise."
Her face flushed for a second as she looked down then curtsied. "My apologies, my Prince. It's just we got very strict instructions from the King to make sure you didn't put yourself in danger. Climbing down a tall wall seems like all the danger in the world. Especially three days before your announcement."
