Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Formation of Team 6 VII

"My name is Ryumon Shiki, I like training and dislike waste, my hobbies . . . Housework? Finding new ways to attend to my mistress? Like new massage techniques, or good habits and stuff." The boy honestly introduced himself.

"As for my dream . . . Become my absolute best self." He said with certainty.

None of his truthful answers were alarming so he could just be honest about it.

Weird?

Yes.

But alarming?

Not in the slightest.

It did however leave both his sensei and teammates looking at him with undecipherable gazes, not sure how to reach.

Clapping her hands, Inori put a smile on her face and . . .

"Alright! Next!" She was not even going to begin unpacking that answer today. No sir!

"Uhh well . . ." With Shinka remaining silent, Mei was up next and, after a bit of floundering, she finally properly introduced herself to the rest of the team.

"I'm Uchiha Mei, I like reading and dislike idiots, my hobby is searching for new and interesting books, my dream is to become an exemplary Uchiha Jonin that my father would be proud of."

"Very good!" Inori nodded at the normal and understandable answer.

'As a member of the Uchiha clan, a clan with worldwide fame for their visual prowess, being born with poor vision despite being the clan head's daughter . . . Her situation in the clan is easy to deduce.' The blonde thought to herself.

'Seeking to prove herself, craves acknowledgement and praise, looking for an advantage and refuge through intellectual pursuits is her main way of coping.' She mused

'From the reports on her skills, she has great mastery of standard Uchiha jutsu, an attempt to prove herself just as capable as her more visually gifted clanmates. Managing to keep up despite her visual impairment proves her standard talents are considerable but . . .'

'In the Uchiha clan where visual prowess reigns supreme in terms of power and status both, such efforts will inevitably be undervalued. With the right guidance she might even become a tool for the village.' Inori callously planned.

'I would need to break her faith in her clan more and then swoop in to grant her a new purpose, higher and more noble, in the service of Konoha itself.'

'But not now, I must first establish a stronger bond with her.' Satisfied with her current grasp of Mei, Inori moved on.

'As expected, normal kids are easy to handle compared to that anomaly . . .' The blonde felt like glaring at said white haired anomaly but knowing he would notice for certain, she reigned in those emotions and turned to Shinka.

Knowing it was her turn, the Aburame girl signed her introduction.

{Aburame Shinka, like being alone, dislike socializing, no hobbies in particular, no real dreams either.}

'Somehow she managed a more annoying self introduction than that brat, the worst kind of impression you can give teammates too.' Inori thought.

'This is just short of directly telling your team you dislike them to their face and that you'd much rather not suffer their presence if possible. And then you give no further information to at least allow them to internally. justify your attitude in some way.'

The blonde jonin was truly at the end of her rope.

'I know I'm supposed to handle the socializing part of the mission and you are just support for certain circumstances but are you going out of your way to make this as hard as possible?' She questioned.

Meanwhile, Shiki was making his own analysis.

'A rather foolish introduction. Even if she is just an assassin to off me in case of suspicion, taking such a standoffish attitude will only make their job harder. Then again, while Danzo's ideas generally have some logic to them, he always screws up when it really matters.' He thought.

'Sending a capable but too socially inept type of operative is just what I would expect from an idiot that believes shinobi should be trained to discard all emotion.'

'But her social ineptitude helped figure her last line about having no dreams was at least a partial lie. Either her brainwashing is not complete or more likely, Danzo is simply incapable of erasing all emotion from his operatives.' The white haired boy concluded.

'I should keep it in mind as a possible "in" for later.'

Inori too realized it. In fact, she had known since long before the formation of Team 6, she even knew what that dream was.

'A surprisingly idealistic and girlish dream . . .' With that fleeting final thought, Inori decided to give Shinka the Shiki treatment and just ignore her introduction.

"Alright team, those were some fine introductions!"

The three kids looked at her with disbelieving expressions, Mei especially, but the Yamanaka did not even stutter as she continued.

"Now follow me to Training Ground 6. I borrowed it for a little team building exercise." Inori smiled, body flickering away faster than they could follow.

'I can track her movement just fine but she is considerably faster than me if she can match my top speed without even trying but my acceleration and close quarters agility with Flicker Flash should not be that far behind if at all.' Shiki thought.

But Shinka had body flickered after Inori so he saved his thoughts for later and followed her.

Still somewhat speechless at the whole very unprofessional and unorthodox feeling process of her team's formation, poor Mei always seemed a step behind as her rational mind just could not keep up.

Regardless, in the next moment, she skillfully body flickered after her already moving companions.

'Are we going to be okay in a team like this?' The bespectacled girl wondered.

It seemed the usually standoffish and aloof Uchiha was now the only member of Team 6 that was actually considering them as a single unit.

Oh how the turn tables!

Konoha was larger than it seemed. The entire Forest of Death which seemed plenty big was just a small enclosure in the village, comparatively speaking.

That said, without any obstacles, a shinobi relying on body flicker could get around the village pretty quick so in a few minutes, everybody arrived at Training Ground 6.

Shiki had easily caught up to Shinka and Mei had easily caught up with both of them so all three arrived simultaneously.

'From her general way of moving, this Aburame Shinka's general shinobi skills are not that impressive. Worthy of a clanborn elite genin but that is about as far as it goes.' The white haired boy thought to himself.

'Then again, Aburame Hiden is pretty detached from standard jutsu so she could be far more dangerous than her skills imply. In fact, that is very likely the truth.'

Since the beginning, Shiki had not stopped dissecting every move, every word of his new teammates and sensei.

After all, Hidden Mist aside, Konoha easily had the worst internal problems amongst the hidden villages.

The others did a lot of deplorable things but generally towards the village's enemies.

Shiki's knowledge of the series was making him paranoid about everything and until the world proved him wrong, he had zero intention of changing his habits.

"Alright genin! Your mission is simple. Touch me." Inori declared to her barely arrived students, a casual yet confident smirk gracing her beautiful features as her hair swayed in the wind.
