“Have a safe journey back,” Eva said sternly.
I nodded even though I didn’t really have control over that aspect of the trip back to Thorn Forest.
We were standing in front of the Breles hospital. I thought about saying goodbye to Rion before I left, but I opted to take a quick peek inside of his room as I was leaving.
It was early in the morning, and he was sleeping peacefully. I stood in the doorway for a couple of seconds, longing to reach out and touch him but I held back. The last thing I needed was for him to wake up and glare daggers at me before I departed.
“You’ll let me know if there are any changes?” I asked anxiously, even though Eva had assured me that she would several times already.
Eva nodded seriously, seeming to understand my need to ask the unnecessary question over and over. “I’ll see if I can jog his memory about you too,” she said.
