Chapter 2 - Proluge part 2

(more exposition)

Omniscient POV:

Itto hadn't moved from the place he had slept for 3 days, until on the 4th day, the hunger got to him and started to run in the opposite direction of where he came from. He had learned how to forage for food and how to hunt from his parents who had learned while raising him, sadly those skills wouldn't help him as much as it was winter, animals were harder to find but he had no other way unless he wanted to steal.

But stealing was one of the things his parents had told him never to do, he was always told to do the right thing, no matter how hard it might be. So he tried hunting, it was then he learned how to use his nose to track down prey, he had picked up on a scent that lead him to a group of deer, he then chased an tackled one of the deer to the ground, he then proceeded to grab the deer's neck and snapped it.

He then dragged the corpse away to find a place he could rest and cook the deer, he eventually stumbled upon a frozen river, there he gave up on walking any further due to the growls from his stomach. He then used his control over the earth to build a small shelter where he stored the deer while he prepared to start a fire.

That night after eating the entire deer Itto once again cried himself to sleep, still coming to terms with his parents death. The next morning he realized that his parents wouldn't want him to cry himself to sleep every night, so he promised himself that he wouldn't cry again and move on.

He continued to fend for himself and live by traveling from place to place, sometimes he would be found when he came close different towns and cities in which he would be chased away. 3 months came and went when in the most recent town Itto had visited were particularly unfriendly, the result was being shot twice, once in the arm and once in the leg, he was able to escape by creating a wall of earth between him and the shooter.

Although the wound managed to slow him down he was able to hide on the other side of town before he stopped to address his wounds and prepare himself for pain. He knew that the bullets were still inside him because he couldn't locate an exit wound for either bullet and he had to get the bullet out before it caused more problems.

He opened his bag and grabbed his first aid kit, he put on some gloves and cleaned his wounds his wounds as with an alcohol prep pad. He first tried finding the bullet with tweezers but gave up after a while of not finding the bullet and moved on to trying with his hands.

While Itto continued looking for the bullet, an old women was passing by when she heard Itto's pain filled grunts, she paused then started walking into the alleyway follow the noise. She eventually came upon Itto as he was digging into his arm, she let out a small gasp, causing Itto to take notice of her and flinch before he began thinking of what to do.

She slowly came toward him as she grabbed him arm and questioned what happened to him. Itto thought for a moment before deciding to trust the woman and explained what happened, the women nodded before grabbing the tweezers and begun looking for the bullet. She spoke with him as she did her best to treat him, to distract him from the pain, she learned his name, as well as why he was all alone, she also learned how he had survived to this day, and by the time they had finished talking she had dug out both bullets, cleaned the wounds and patched up both him arm and leg.

She asked him to stay where he was and that she will be right back, when she left Itto contemplated whether or not to just run away before she came back, but looking at his arm and leg, he decided to trust the lady for now so he waited. After 15 minutes the old women returned, she brought her a winter jacket, a hat, and some food.

She gave them to Itto before helping him eat the warm soup she brought, she talked to him about what he had been through and how he shouldn't have had to go through all this. When Itto asked why she was helping him, the lady explained how when she had her only kid, she had fallen in love with him as any mother loved their child, but her child was a mutant, and her husband and her father were disgusted by this, her father ended up suffocating the child when she had went to sleep.

Meanwhile her husband had skipped town, never wanting to see her again for the abomination she had made, she grieved for her lost child and became distant from her family, who had covered up the whole thing with his money and power. So today, after she was free from her fathers control she had begun using the money and influence she inherited from her father to help mutants, she would help families with mutant children by providing financial support, and helping older mutants hide themselves if they were being hunted.

So she asked Itto if he would come with her, at least until he was fully healed, and he agreed, so she lead him from the alleyway to her car nearby where she drove off with Itto back to her home in New York City. When they eventually made it to her home in New York, she gave Itto a room and clothes, as well as a nice big meal that night so that he could eat his fill.

It had been such a long time since he could eat without constraints that he couldn't remember the last time he had eaten so much (enough food for five people). So Itto rested at the old ladies house and got to know more about who she was and what she does, as time went by he grew closer to her, as she cared for him like a son, so when Itto who heals at an abnormal rate was fully healed, he pretended to still be injured in order to stay longer.

When she inevitably found out that Itto was fine she continued to let him stay with her and so she raised him as her own son, she would teach him herself by buying books on different subjects and teaching him everything she could. So Itto grew up with the women, calling her Grandma, he learned all he could and enjoyed his time away from all the running and constantly being on the lookout, here he was safe.

Sadly he didn't have any friends beside the few hired help that Grandma had gotten to help around the house, but he didn't let that stop him from having fun as he would often be found playing with his control over earth, learning new ways to use it and becoming better at precise control. This continued until Grandma decided to use her influence to get Itto into a school, a proper school so that he could socialize and make friends so that he would not be alone when she is gone.
