Chapter 120 - The Weird Curse

The Jumper's intuition was as sharp as it was irritating. He had a knack for seeing the gears turning in my head before I even finished shifting them.

"Let's just hope this meteor shower lasts a bit longer," I muttered, more to myself than to him.

This was the linchpin of the entire operation. Based on the agonisingly slow progress bar, the Anubis God Libra was going to take nearly two minutes to fully calibrate and activate. If the monster stopped its assault now, or if the Warlord managed to drive the beast off before the scales tipped, the moment would be lost.

I cursed my own ignorance; if I had known the activation time was this long, I would have triggered the artefact before pulling my troops back. But hindsight is a luxury the apocalypse rarely affords.

For those two minutes, I was a wreck. My tunic was soaked through with cold sweat as I watched the sky fall.
