Chapter 168 - [168]: “Scheming”

Shrek City was bustling with people, and everywhere you looked, there were shadows of many spirit tools. Some stalls displayed sound-recording spirit tools, from which the melodious calls of vendors emanated.

On the signboards on both sides, in addition to the luster of various gems, some spirit tools also emitted colorful lights. Occasionally, strange-looking vehicles would appear on the streets. Although crude, they saved a lot of effort. At first glance, it almost looked like a city from the Sun Moon Empire.

"I didn't expect Shrek City to change so much."

"Isn't this your idea?"

"Mine?" Wang Nan was stunned. He did miss the convenience of his previous life, so he had mentioned some simple and practical spirit tool ideas to Ye Xiaosheng during their chats. He didn't expect that the origin of these things appearing here was actually from him.

"Are all these Ye Xiaosheng's doing?"

"Not entirely. The Soul Guidance System proposed that spirit tools could be used for more than just combat. Many students who graduated from the Soul Guidance System felt their talent wasn't enough, so they started tinkering in other directions."

Although they might have lacked talent, how bad could a Spirit Master who had entered Shrek Academy be? Even if they hadn't seen a completely different system like Wang Nan's, they still managed to create many useful things.

"You know this so clearly?"

"After graduating, I also helped Teacher Mu En handle some matters for Shrek Academy, so I know a bit about what's been happening around here."

"Let's go. The Tang Sect is just ahead." Ma Xiaotao said, quickening her pace slightly.

"No hurry, let's continue strolling around the city for a while."

Ma Xiaotao looked at Wang Nan in confusion. He had asked about Beibei and Huo Yuhao, clearly having something to find them for, so why wasn't he in a hurry now?

Wang Nan pulled Ma Xiaotao, taking the lead as he walked forward. "It's not good to stay in the Academy all the time. Since we're out, let's have a proper rest."

---

By the time Ma Xiaotao brought Wang Nan to the Tang Sect's territory, it was already approaching dusk. The setting sun bathed the Tang Sect's main gate in an orange-red hue. The two large characters "Tang Sect" were written on the plaque in a majestic Dragon and Phoenix style. Two disciples stood on either side, wearing light blue uniforms with golden Blue Silver Grass patterns embroidered on their hems.

Wang Nan merely glanced over them and noticed the faint spirit power fluctuations emanating from the waists and wrists of the two disciples. Spirit tools should be worn there.

It seemed that even with the rapid development of spirit tools, the Tang Sect still hadn't abandoned their original Hidden Weapons. The spirit tools on their wrists and waists were clearly positioned for launching Hidden Weapons.

However, the current Tang Sect was quite wealthy. Even two ordinary disciples had at least two storage spirit tools on them.

"Hello, we are from Shrek Academy," Ma Xiaotao stepped forward and spoke first.

"Hello, please follow me." The disciple at the Tang Sect's entrance merely glanced at the emblem in Ma Xiaotao's hand before opening the gate behind him, without much verification. After all, in Shrek City, few people dared to impersonate someone from Shrek Academy.

Walking further in, the internal layout of the Tang Sect was much more "traditional." Although there were some spirit tools, their style was completely different from those in Shrek City.

"Senior Brother, Senior Sister."

Passing through the courtyard, they saw Beibei standing there, speaking to several disciples. Upon hearing footsteps, he turned around and saw Wang Nan and Ma Xiaotao entering.

"Why are you here?"

"I originally came to see if you and Yuhao needed any help. I heard you were in the Sect, and I hadn't visited the Tang Sect since it was built, so I came to look around."

Although Wang Nan had other intentions for this trip, these words were also sincere. He had received much care from Mu En, and for Beibei and Huo Yuhao, as long as it was within his capabilities, he was more than willing to help out.

"It's alright. Although it's a bit simple, we've still taken in many disciples."

"I see that you treat your disciples very well."

"Senior Brother, you noticed that." Beibei smiled. "These are all Yuhao's ideas. He said that making some simple spirit tools doesn't take much effort, and the raw materials can be directly purchased from the Academy, so he equipped the disciples with some."

"Senior Brother, Senior Sister, please come in and sit."

Entering the living room, Beibei poured some tea and placed it on the table. "Yuhao is still making spirit tools in the back. I'll send someone to call him now."

"Alright, it's been a while since I last saw him anyway." Wang Nan didn't refuse.

The three chatted for a while, and Huo Yuhao finally arrived, a little late.

"Wang Dage!" As soon as he entered the room, Huo Yuhao called out excitedly.

"Come sit." Wang Nan motioned for Huo Yuhao to sit beside him.

As soon as he sat down, Huo Yuhao's gaze fell on Wang Nan's waist. A small, palm-length brocade pouch hung there, and a faint emerald green light subtly emanated from within.

"Sorry, little Yuhao. Just as you don't want others to know your secrets, I also have some things I can't say, so I'll have to 'scheme' against you a little."

In Huo Yuhao's Sea of Spirit, the gray orb, which had always been largely still, suddenly vibrated slightly, and an old voice slowly sounded.

"However, it can't really be considered scheming—only a transaction."

Wang Nan clearly remembered that although Iliex's Divine Sense fragment had fallen into Huo Yuhao's Sea of Spirit, it had always had the possibility of dissipating. It was only after obtaining the life blade later that it completely stabilized.

Now that the life blade was in his hands, Iliex would definitely need this item.

Wang Nan had initially planned to use this life blade to exchange for the method of using life gold. With the method of using life gold, there were still so many opportunities in the Star Dou Great Forest waiting for him, so this little bit wouldn't make a difference.

However, he couldn't explain how he knew Huo Yuhao had the method for using life gold, so he could only "scheme" against him a little, hoping to get him to bring it up on his own.

In fact, to strengthen his body with life gold, Wang Nan had always kept it close to him. However, Huo Yuhao couldn't possibly scan others with his mental force all the time. And now, it depended on whether Huo Yuhao could discover it.

If it didn't work, he could always put on a "clumsy" performance.

However, things did not reach the worst-case scenario Wang Nan had anticipated. Just as Huo Yuhao sat next to Wang Nan and his gaze swept over him, even though it was only a brief pause, Wang Nan still caught it.

"Wang Dage."

As the few of them chatted, time flew by quickly. In the blink of an eye, the sun had set. Just as Wang Nan proposed to leave and walked out of the living room, Huo Yuhao suddenly called out to him.

"I have something I want to ask you." Seeing Wang Nan turn around, Huo Yuhao said.

Wang Nan sighed inwardly, feeling a bit unethical, but still stopped in his tracks.
