Chapter 250 - [250]: Xuan Zi’s Highlight Moment

On Shrek City's wall, the elders watched Xuan Zi and Di Tian battle in mid-air.

The people of the Sun Moon Empire were not familiar with Di Tian, but the Shrek elders were certainly not strangers to this eight-hundred-thousand-year-old Spirit Beast of the Star Dou Great Forest. With his strength, if he went all out, how could Xuan Zi possibly last this long?

Everyone exchanged glances, and several figures flew into the sky, engaging the other Vicious Beasts in battle.

The city wall was already covered with densely packed Soul Guidance Devices, all aimed at the Spirit Beasts stretching as far as the eye could see. The defending soldiers, aside from high-ranking officers, did not know the truth. Facing the countless Spirit Beasts, despair filled their hearts, and they could only hope that the elders in the sky could stop the tide.

As evening approached, Xuan Zi's gaze swept toward the Sun Moon Empire as he made his move. Although the Sun Moon Empire had never seen Di Tian fight, they could roughly infer that his strength had reached an extraordinary level. If Xuan Zi did not use genuine methods, it would be impossible to deceive them.

Thinking this, Xuan Zi glanced at Wang Nan, hidden within the black clouds, and steeled his resolve. The yellow light around him began to flow, growing increasingly dazzling, illuminating a vast portion of the sky amid the darkness that blotted out the sun.

The crystalline yellow light transformed into flames that engulfed Xuan Zi. His figure visibly thinned. Behind him, the Taotie Divine Ox roared once more, but this time, another deep voice faintly mingled within the sound.

"This is the power of the Dragon Clan." Di Tian, opposite Xuan Zi, subtly changed his expression. "I didn't expect your Taotie Divine Ox Spirit to truly be able to unleash a portion of the Dragon Clan's power."

This was not Di Tian improvising. He had genuinely grown interested in Xuan Zi. Even if it was only an act, if Xuan Zi could "repel" him with Dragon Clan power, it would not damage the Dragon Clan's prestige. In fact, it made the situation easier for him to accept.

"Very well. Let me see how much of my Dragon Clan's strength your Taotie Divine Ox can unleash."

On a whim, Di Tian waved his sleeve, and the black clouds at the horizon churned violently. The Spirit Beasts on the ground, influenced by him, roared toward the sky.

Purple lightning crackled through the clouds as continuous thunder echoed. Dense dragon scales spread across Di Tian's face, and in the next instant, obsidian-black flames spewed from his mouth.

This was also Dragon Breath, but far more ferocious than the one Long Xiaoyao had released back then. Black and purple engulfed the entire sky in an instant, swallowing Xuan Zi whole.

For a brief moment, the world fell silent.

In the next instant, an aged figure fell from the black clouds. Xuan Zi seemed to have aged more than ten years in a single moment, and the spirit power within him could no longer support his flight.

"Old Xuan!"

A cry rang out from the city wall. Old Zhuang, who had been waiting all along, shot into the sky and caught Xuan Zi mid-fall.

A rich life aura surged into Xuan Zi's body.

The black clouds above thinned noticeably, yet Di Tian's figure did not appear. After a short while, a deep voice finally echoed from within the clouds.

"Cough, cough. I didn't expect your Taotie Spirit to indeed possess such strength."

Although Di Tian did not reveal himself, his voice suggested that he had also suffered serious injuries.

"Di Tian," Xuan Zi said weakly, "our Shrek Academy did not hunt a hundred-thousand-year Spirit Beast. Do you truly intend to let your Spirit Beasts perish here over a misunderstanding?"

At his words, everyone looked elsewhere in the sky.

On one side, Yan Shaozhe extended his hand, golden flames surging toward the Crimson King. The Crimson King struggled to resist, barely escaping the flames before hastily retreating into the clouds.

Yan Shaozhe himself was gravely injured, blood slowly trickling from the corner of his mouth.

Elsewhere, Xiong Jun was being besieged by four Titled Douluo of Shrek Academy. Even with his terrifying combat power, he was beginning to show signs of being overwhelmed.

With all of Shrek's experts mobilized to block the Vicious Beasts, breaking through Shrek City no longer seemed simple.

"This lord will investigate the truth of the matter. If your Shrek Academy survives today's tribulation, I will come to seek guidance again in the future."

With those words, the black clouds in the sky slowly receded.

Zi Ji, ninth among the ten great Vicious Beasts, immediately understood. She struck a palm toward Zhang Lexuan in front of her, then winked before flying back to Di Tian's side.

Xiong Jun, meanwhile, was still immersed in battle. Despite his massive body, his bear paws were astonishingly agile, blocking attacks from three Titled Douluo and even finding chances to counterattack.

Just as he was fully engaged, a chill suddenly ran down his spine. A pair of golden eyes stared at him from within the black clouds.

Xiong Jun shuddered, then roared loudly, slamming his palms downward. Invisible shockwaves erupted, forcing the three Titled Douluo back. He then quickly retreated into the black clouds.

Landing beside Di Tian, Xiong Jun smacked his lips. "It's been a long time since I've had such a satisfying fight."

Below, the three Shrek elders landed on the city wall, their faces pale from exhaustion.

Among all the Vicious Beasts Di Tian had brought, only Xiong Jun had completely ignored his arrangements. He had come purely to fight.

"Thank you for your assistance."

Hearing Wang Nan's words, Di Tian waved his hand. "Did you gain anything from observing my Spirit Beast formation?"

"Gain anything?"

Wang Nan pondered, looking at the endless Spirit Beasts standing beneath the clouds. Their combined aura surged straight into the heavens. Yet when asked what he had gained, he found himself momentarily at a loss for words.

Seeing this, Di Tian said nothing further. Black light surged around him as the clouds pressing down on Shrek City gradually withdrew.

Within Shrek City, most Spirit Masters knew nothing of the truth. They believed only that Xuan Zi had single-handedly driven Di Tian back. Countless fervent gazes gathered on the city wall.

However, before the city could recover from the joy of "repelling" the Spirit Beasts, a deafening roar sounded from Shrek City's wall.

The battle between Shrek and the Vicious Beasts had lasted half a day, and evening had arrived. As the roar echoed, the lights of the Sun Moon Empire's three great Soul Master legions began to glow dimly.

"I didn't expect Shrek City to truly repel the Spirit Beasts of the Star Dou Great Forest," Xu Tianyuan said beneath his mask. "But they are clearly exhausted. Now is the perfect opportunity. Cult Master Feng, I'll have to trouble you."

Feng Ling passed Xu Tianyuan. With a piercing phoenix cry, she soared into the sky toward Shrek City.

Several black-clad figures followed behind her, while attacks from various Soul Guidance Device positions launched even faster.

"Marshal, Shrek Academy has stood for tens of thousands of years. There may still be hidden contingencies," Mirror Hongchen said uneasily.

"That's precisely why we're letting the Holy Spirit Cult test them first," Xu Tianyuan replied calmly.
