'Knock! Knock!'
It was almost midnight when Mable heard a soft knock at the wooden door of her little house.
She was already on the bed, half-asleep. But, hearing the soft knock, she looked up, opening her sleepy eyes. But, even after listening carefully for a few seconds, when she didn't hear any knock again, she just closed her eyes.
Yawning sleepily, Mable mumbled under her breath, "Is there someone outside! Maybe, not… I guess, it is just the wind."
'Knock! Knock!'
The knocking was louder than before and impatient too. It was clear that someone was knocking at the door.
A shadow of terror darkened the glamorous face of that middle-aged lady. She was almost in her early forties but her beauty could be easily compared with any young lady of Blossom brothel.
While wearing her outer robe, Mable got down from the bed as she asked in her sleepy yet silvery tone, "W-who? Who is there?"
"Lin? I mean… Can I talk with Aylin?"
