Chapter 1 - Chapter 1. The Fall

The first thing I can remember is the darkness. floating in it, embraced by it. More accurately though would be strangled by it. Existing within the endless void without feeling or warmth, nor sense of time. The only thing that you could truly feel was a hint of cold, like the grip of death itself, numbing you to your very core. Then it all changed..

There was a blinding light and then a sense of weightlessness. Sounds like rushing of water passing my ears. As I finally managed to open my eyes I could see a bright blue sky filled with rays of sunshine. As well as a black tear, as if the sky itself was ripped open. Only the tear was slowly getting smaller...

"Getting smaller??"

And that's when I realized I was falling out of the sky!

I started searching frantically for anything that might help slow my fall. The fist thing I noticed was the armor I wore. Once a masterpiece made of high quality steel, now hardly better than scrap. Covered in blood, the right half of the chest piece was caved in. There are dents and scratches covering my left side. My right gauntlet was just gone. Over to my right further down i could see a spear flipping end over end. Too far out of reach to grab.

I continued looking around still frantic but all I could see besides the armor and weapon was open sky. With a rising landmass far below me.

Is this it? Trapped within a black void only to be spat out and fall to my death!! From somewhere deep within myself i felt something stir and ignite. A need that flared into an inferno as i thought of my coming demise. "No. NO! I will NOT die from this!!" I screamed out as I continued falling. I pulled in my arms and angled my descent towards the spear.

As i fell and the landmass got closer i was able to make out more details. Such as a mountain range off in the distance. It's peaks rising majestically like the crown of a king, and at it's base is a thick forest with a crystal clear lake at it's center.

I closed some distance towards the spear but it was still just out of reach. Just a few feet more, come on!! Closing further on the weapon I reached out as far as I could, stretching. The spear mere inches beyond my reach. It was then i realized what once was a blob at the south edge of the forest was in fact a city. A city that was directly beneath me as i fell. I turned my focus solely on the spear then. I didn't have much time left. I reached out one last time as i saw the city quickly rising up to meet me. My fingertips brushing against the leather grip.

I DID IT!! My hand gripped the spear like it was my lifeline. I pulled it in close and looked down at the city now to see upon where I'd be landing.

At first i couldn't see much of the city beyond it's shape but as i got close i was able to make out more detail. Like the wooden palisades wrapping around the city limits. Streets made of packed dirt and houses with thatch roofs. the most striking feature of the city was a lone building. The only building made of stone, it had intricate arches and glass stained windows. I could even see a statue of some kind in the middle of an open courtyard on the far side.

Of course it was that very same building i was about to crash into. "This is going to hurt. This is really going to hurt."

I readied the spear in my grip, cocked my arm back, and i hurled the spear down at the building with every fiber and muscle of my being!

BOOOOOMMM!!
