Chapter 6 - Chapter Six: To Break And Rip Apart

Edward Foster,

I pulled Equilibrium close to my chest as the ground started shaking. I quickly turned and stared at the sky. "Destruction of the concept, Space". The space between me and the empty sky broke and shrank. Lunching me upwards, away from that freak.

"Destruction of the concept, Gravity." The pull of gravity disappeared, allowing me to float endlessly in the air.

Senseless screaming pursued, but was drowned by the sound of entire city blocks breaking apart. People were being crushed by falling debris or getting their bodies broken by being tossed around like a pinball. Some rolled around along with their cars, and those who were on foot had the fate of falling off.

Then it hurtled them at me. There was no saving those people stuck on it. At first, I thought of simply moving out of the way, but there was more city behind me.

The first one came at me, like a meteor cutting through the atmosphere. The idea was to take them head-on, so I clenched my teeth and braced for impact. It came at me, buildings first, everything rushed past me, and I crashed into the road.

"Destruction of Matter," I crashed hard into the unmoving road, my mind rattling inside my skull. I came face-to-face with the white mist covering its surface. Whatever this was, Equilibrium couldn't affect it, not directly.

I looked at the edge of the block, and the space shrank, and I was launched into the air, out of its way. In the next few moments, I saw it fall onto the other half of London, the devastation insurmountable, and lives lost unimaginable.

With rage flaring up, I looked down at the white speck on the ground, then at another city block coming at me. I lifted Equilibrium by its handle like a sphere, "Destruction of concept, mass". With a crackle of thunder, beamed out of my hand and moment later, crashed into the city block, creating a crater of its own.

However, it didn't stop it in the slightest. Instead, whether by the mannequin or by the force of Equilibrium, it broke in two, continuing on its way past me. I didn't look back; instead stared back down at it.

"Come to me," I said through gritted teeth, and Equilibrium rushed towards my hands. The space shrank beneath me and landed on the ground. "Destruction of concept, Mass," I leaped forward with Equilibrium pointed right at it.

I heard the sound of thunder, and everything stretched forward, then I heard another thunderous blast as I came to a sudden stop. If not for the Equilibrium, I would have exploded.

My vision came back to me, and I was flat against an invisible wall composed of the white mist. Just a few feet away from the spiral Mannequin. With its hand, it pushed the wall back and launched me away, creating a sizeable distance between us.

I fell on my back, instantly swollen by the shadow of the city block falling over me. I was engulfed by darkness, my body becoming restricted under the weight. The white mist, Equilibrium was not able to affect it. While it could wrap anything into it, including air.

And so, I needed to get rid of everything. "Destruction of Matter", I broke my way out, again into the bright light and the clear sky. It was still there, not moving, only waiting for me. I stabbed the Equilibrium into the ground. "Destruction of concept, Matter", then came the suffocation and the void.

In a massive sphere that consumed me and the spiral Mannequin, there were only two sources of illumination. The two gems, no light, no air, no matter. I landed on my feet while choking, "Destruction of concept, Space." I zipped to it and reached out my hand towards the white gem.

My hands cruved through its flesh, until fully grasping the White Gem. "Destruction of concept, Mass," I beamed us out of there until we came to a stop against a building. A loud blast echoed out as the empty space collapsed on itself, with matter flooding in.

"Now...Die!" I yelled. The spiral Manniquin's body tore apart in ribbons, with my power going all the way and consuming most of the building behind him, turning it into a small deep canyon. It all stopped as the White Gem ended in my hands, and everything came to a halt.

At last, the only thing I could hear was the sound of my breathing, while everything around me was destroyed to an absolute degree. Suddenly, without a warning, my legs gave out, and my arm went numb with a freezing sensation. I started trembling with cold while I held out the White Gem, glowing in the palm of my hand.

The feeling only grew, reminding me of the first time I touched the Red Gem. Soon, the cold went through my whole body, reaching my chest, causing me to stop breathing. I fell on top of my arm with the White Gem underneath me.

???

We both were back at the table in the middle of the ditch caused by the fiend. Across from me sat Edward, eyeing his older self on the ground. "Everyone's dead...except you. Isn't it how it always went? I mean, it was the same for me, too. The essence of Preservation, if you want to understand it...Not that you were able to protect anything with it, I mean, you couldn't, and neither could I", I said.

So, we moved to the next phase. In the past, Edward remained cold for days, while the world evolved rapidly, heralding the essences of Life.

Flora and fauna surged out of the barren ground and consumed the decimated land. "Ah, yes...There is never any end to anything, is there?" I said, a little bit annoyed. Nonetheless, the life grew at a sporadic rate into a giant forest, consuming the whole of London.

The next Fiend appeared as a mockery of nature's greatest mark, a looming willow tree. With an emerald Green Gem burning within its off-white bark.

Now we were in a tall grassy field. While Edward's old self got lost somewhere among the tall grass. I looked at Edward, who looked back at me. "Let's just wait until you wake up again, how about that. While Life finds a way" I said, and Edward agreed with his silence.
