Jin awoke to find himself in a bed surrounded by four white walls and a window on the left side of him. He wonders to himself what is he doing here and why he is wrapped in bandages. As he can't remember what happened, but he knows he wasn't anywhere near a house or any buildings. That was when a sharp pain hit took over him from his feet straight to the back of his head. And with the pain, Jin began getting flashbacks.
He remembers being in a cave and he wasn't alone. There were several of them but he can't see their faces in the flashbacks, but he knows he wasn't alone but can't remember why either. As the pain intensifies, Jin bends over, holding everything in not to scream as he is still not sure about his whereabouts and whether or not who brought him here is friend or foe. But with the intense pain, he begins to remember everything that led up to this point.
He remembers walking into an opening and meeting a beautiful but mysterious woman. That is when everything came flooding in, the woman, the reason for being in the cave, her attacking everyone and even Rex. Jin began remembering everything. He remembers Rex and everyone dying at her hands violently and without mercy. He remembered trying to average everyone but was defeated by her as she opens a hole in her chest.
That when he checked for the hole in his chest, it was gone. He looked out the window and realized he was back in the village. The hole was gone as he continued to check. He marveled at how fast he healed but wondered why as there is no way, the medicine in the village was so advance. He soon realized that all his injuries were gone. "How could this be? I should be dead or at least badly damaged, but I feel fine. No, I feel better than fine. I feel perfect. This is madness." Remarked Jin as he tries to come to terms with his body and his current situation.
As Jin holds his head in panic and confusion, the door to his room opens and an old lady appears from behind it. She wore an old red kimono with white flowers on it. Her grey hair was wrapped in one with chopsticks holding it together. She walks over to Jin barefoot as she carried a bowl of soup in her wrinkled little hands.
She rest the bowl of soup next to the bed and sat on the bed next to Jin. She then proceeds to hand Jin the bowl. "Eat up child. You need your strength," the old woman remarked as she watched on as Jin ate. Jin tried to ask a question but was quickly denied until he finished eating. After Jin was finished eating, he thanked the old lady for the meal but quickly asked. What he was doing here.
The elderly lady's smile quickly turn to a serious expression as she advised him that he was the only survivor of the hunting party. "After you guys didn't return, we sent a scouting party after you all. When the scouting party didn't return, we knew something was wrong. I manage to find you in the bushes and I brought you here. " The elderly explain "We sent three more men and this time only one returned, stating he saw a woman with nine tails attack them. Only he escaped and came back to tell the story." Express the old woman as she takes a deep breath, trying to come to terms with the words she had just spoken.
"So she killed everyone, including the scouting party?" Jin asked, enraged, as he could do nothing to help. "No, she old killed the hunting party and the two men," the elderly lady replied as she looked Jin dead in his eyes.
"So what or who killed the shouting party?" Jin asked furiously as he waits for an answer. "Come, child, let's go for a walk," replied the woman and she get off the bed and heads for the door. "A walk I want answers, lady," shouted Jin. "Here is not the place for the answers, you need child. Come with me and take that walking stick with you people here are very superstitious." Commands the old woman as they proceed to walk through the village.
As the pair walk through the village, Jin uses the walking stick, pretending to still be injured as the villagers watch him with an estranged look in their eyes. "It can't be helped, I guess. Since am the only survivor, they must think I am a demon or something else to survive something like a nine-tailed fox attack." Jin thought to himself as he and the old lady reach their destination.
"We are here," the old lady remarked as she takes a sit on a rock. As the two sit, they are surrounded by several eight-foot-tall stone pillars with smaller rocks inside the formation. The pillars have several words of unknown origin on them, which Jin is unable to read. The grass beneath their feet was dark green in color and was evenly cut as if it was maintained by the hand of God himself.
As Jin marvels at the beauty of the place, the old lady turns to him and says, "So do you still want answers?"
"Of course I do. What is going on? Why did you have to bring me here to give me an answer?" Jin shouted, distressed by the whole situation. "This place has a calming effect on living beings and you needed to be calm, but before I gave you the truth." Remarked the old woman as she holds on to Jin's Hand.
"What going on? What truth, please tell me," cried Jin as he looks on desperately for an answer. "The truth is, child, you are the one who killed the scouting party," replied the old woman as she looks at him with an intense facial expression
"You have been cursed. Forever to walk among the living as a monster am sorry my child." the old woman continued. Hearing these words, Jin's heart sank to his stomach as he thinks to himself. "I killed them. No way I would, I couldn't." As tears streamed down his face.
