Rakim swung his right foot at the descending ball just as the keeper bent forward to lunge. The top of his boot made contact with the side of the falling ball, sending it flying across the face of the goal out of the keeper's and nearby defenders' reach. It looked like the chance would be wasted as Schick, no matter how he stretched, just couldn't reach it.
