It has been a month since Indrajeet and Anahita started living with the elves. They live above their ruined underground kingdom. It's far from the elf village so they normally don't interact much.
Gustav swings by from time to time. The archeologist also swings by asking many questions.
Their days were going peacefully. The time they lost were a lot. So they are trying to make up for their lost time.
One afternoon, they are sitting on their porch. Their general life isn't so different from a normal couple's life.
Although they spent an entire week making love. Well, it wasn't as demure as just making love but they craved for each other so much, it took them an entire week to calm down.
"This slow lifestyle isn't so bad, is it?" (Indrajeet)
"Yeah.. I like it. It's far better than just waging war and claiming land." (Anahita)
They see Gustav coming their way. When he is close enough, Indrajeet asks.
"How did your day go?"
"Same as always. There's nothing to do here. We did catch a few poachers but they were swiftly dealt with." (Gustav)
They were exchanging pleasantries when Indrajeet felt something odd.
"Why is this happening?" (Indrajeet)
He sighed as if a big hassle is coming their way.
"Is something the matter, dear?" (Anahita)
"Gustav, head back to the village and tell everyone to stay inside. I will put a barrier around the village. Don't let anyone leave the village and tell them to stay in their homes. What's coming next isn't too pretty." (Indrajeet)
He was serious. Gustav ran back as fast as he could because Indrajeet was serious.
"Honey, hold my hand. It might scare you a bit." (Indrajeet)
Anahita takes his hand with a lot of questions on her mind. They both get off the porch and wait under the sky.
Anahita felt it. Something is coming. Something strong and scary and eerie is coming.
Down came an object. It fell straight on the ground and made a big crack. Dust clouds rose and settled down. Anahita gripped his hand, tightly.
"Don't worry honey. He isn't as bad as he might seem." (Indrajeet)
He assured her bur her instincts were screaming at her to run away.
The object revealed itself to be a black human sized capsule. The capsule opened and a man emerged.
Anahita closed her eyes in fear. His very aura was so frightening that it's crushing her soul. Indrajeet covered her in a barrier.
"Boss, can you hear me?"
Indrajeet asks the man. The unknown man nods but didn't answer.
"Dear, what is that?" (Anahita)
It took her everything to squeeze out that one sentence.
"Don't be afraid, honey. Everything will be fine." (Indrajeet)
The unknown man gazes at them.
"Indra, give me the thing."
He said. Indrajeet understood what he wanted. He took out a violin from his storage and tossed it to the unknown man.
He took the violin and started playing it.
"Dear, what is happening? Is that music?" (Anahita)
"Boss is playing the violin again. It makes me nostalgic. But that means he still isn't over it." (Indrajeet)
He could only sigh as the unknown man keeps playing the saddest music possible.
Then he started shedding tears. His tears fell to the ground and sprouted. Various kinds of plants sprouted from the ground. The barren land is becoming greener.
Then he threw the violin back to Indrajeet and left. Anahita finally calmed down.
"Are you alright? Do you need mind stabilization?" (Indrajeet)
"No…but who was that?" (Anahita)
"That was my boss and father. Not my real father but he did raise me ever since he found me." (Indrajeet)
Anahita is stunned. She didn't know about that. Well, they didn't get to spend much time together.
Indrajeet lifted the barrier.
"We should head to the village. I am pretty sure everyone is panicking." (Indrajeet)
They go to Gustav's house and find him waiting outside.
"I felt the barrier becoming undone so what happened?" (Gustav)
"It was totally unexpected. I didn't think my father would come to visit me." (Indrajeet)
And just like Anahita, he had a shocked reaction to that.
They all went inside and took their seats.
"The villagers were confused but they didn't protest. It's afternoon anyway so they don't have much to do outside." (Gustav)
"That was a blessing in disguise. Anyway, my father was here to just check on me. I don't think he will come back any time soon." (Indrajeet)
"Honey, boss apologized to you for scaring you. Look, he even left you a present." (Indrajeet)
He showed her a hair clip. It's a golden butterfly patterned hair clip.
"It even transforms into a tiara when you become a dragon." (Indrajeet)
Anahita is still processing what is happening but she accepts the clip and puts it on.
"And he is sorry for startling everyone. It has been a while since he was sane." (Indrajeet)
"Sane? Is he insane or something?" (Gustav)
"It's a long story. But since he decided to show up, it can only mean one thing. Something big is happening. We will most likely be involved in that." (Indrajeet)
Anahita stares at him, demanding an explanation.
"Let's start from my boss and father. I call him father but he didn't give birth to me. He just raised me. I am an orphan. My father, Joy the elated, is the creator of this world." (Indrajeet)
This went over their heads since they can't even fathom how big of a scale it is.
"By creator I mean, he is the current creator. He didn't directly create this world. He inherited this world and is the current person in charge." (Indrajeet)
"Is that something anyone can inherit?" (Gustav)
"No. You need to meet specific requirements before you are even considered for the role. It's like a job so the more qualified person will be hired. Except, there are only two people involved. The previous one, the main creator, of this world decided that father is the most suited person to succeed him." (Indrajeet)
"So, your father inherited this world and is the creator. What exactly does a creator do?" (Anahita)
"As the title suggests, they create worlds. And this world has many layers to it. Every world has similar structures. They have infinite possibilities and dimensions within them and one plane from where everything is controlled. That's where the creator lives.
Ultimately, a creator can choose to keep or destroy a world or system. Father simply took over and let nature run it's course. He didn't bother changing anything." (Indrajeet)
He stops to check if they are following him. Gustav is lost in thoughts but brings himself back to his senses. Anahita is trying to analyze everything he said.
"It's a lot to take in. And you might ask, then what are gods? Well, infinite possibilities and dimensions mean those need to be maintained. The gods you all know of are those caretakers. They look after each dimension and possibility." (Indrajeet)
"It certainly is unbelievable. But you have no reason to lie to us. Then why did the creator show up here?" (Gustav)
"Father is indirectly telling me to take his mantle so he can retire. He is tired." (Indrajeet)
"Dear, will you become the creator?" (Anahita)
"I won't, yet. Becoming a creator is a lot of work and I can't live in this world if I become one. There are creators who live in their worlds but I don't want to trouble everyone else." (Indrajeet)
His explanation was finally making sense but someone abruptly interrupted it.
"Hey, Indrajeet."
He looked at the intruder and his face turned sour.
"Why are you here, Kirin?" (Indrajeet)
"I was only following Joy. I didn't think his son would be here." (Kirin)
"So you were the reason father came here!" (Indrajeet)
"No. He decided that he is ready to move on. So he visited everyone one last time. Indra, your time has come to step up and take the mantle. Constant has already agreed to this." (Kirin)
Indrajeet is in a pickle. Anahita understood that it's a tough decision.
"Why not do it, dear?" (Anahita)
She tries to give him a push.
"But that would mean you would become a creator as well. As my spouse, you would have to shoulder some responsibilities as well." (Indrajeet)
"That's even better. That would mean you won't have to shoulder everything alone." (Anahita)
She is genuinely happy to hear that.
"Then let's go and visit Constant. I would like to him with him in person." (Indrajeet)
Kirin agreed to bring them to Constant. Indrajeet looks at Gustav.
"Thank you for your services, Gustav. After I come back, are you interested in becoming a god?" (Indrajeet)
"That is way above my pay grade. Thank you for offering but I won't become one." (Gustav)
"That's fine. We'll try to come back as soon as possible." (Indrajeet)
Saying that all of them disappear except Gustav. Whatever happened went over his head and he decided not to think too much about it.
