Eva awoke to a very warm little furnace the next day. Arya had found her way into bed at some point and was sleeping soundly with more than her fair share of covers. Eva glanced behind her to find the bed empty and as if it had never been slept in. She frowned. Did he not come to bed last night?
Red yawned at her feet and hopped onto the floor. He inspected the child in her arms and pressed his nose to her cheek, eliciting a giggle from the girl. "Stop, Red!" She whined and wiggled out of Eva's arms. She wrapped her little arms around his neck and waited for her to crawl onto his back.
Eva looked on worriedly, but Arya crawled onto Red's back expertly. Red opened the door with his mouth and exited the room with Arya laughing all the way. Her heart grew warm as she watched them. Not even a slight glimpse of Leyla through the door disturbed her. Well, it hurt a little, but only because she couldn't figure out what to do about their relationship.
