Ariel was still chanting her incantations while Logan was kept busy by the creatures. No matter how hard he tried to free himself, the creatures weren't giving him the chance he wanted to escape. If he didn't interrupt Ariel as soon as possible, then she would complete her incantation and Daphne would be in danger.

He kicked one of the creatures away and used the opportunity to rush in Ariel's direction.

As he was standing up the creatures were already standing beside him as they started their assault on him once again.
