It's surrounded by mountains, getting in and out could only be done via mountain paths. Before the roads were opened those years, going out for a bit required half a month's preparation, along with dry food and shoes. If it rained, the mountain roads became even harder to walk.
The mountain paths were initially made by people walking them out. It was impossible for cars to come here, and even the bridge at the foot of the mountain for crossing the river was just made of a few wooden planks.
But things have changed over the past few years. Roads have been built in the mountainous area, making it much more convenient to get in and out.
