Elayne nodded. "Okay, I understand. I'll just stay polite... I never imagined making friends in this world would be so difficult."
"Hmm, I don't like the way he looks at you," Mark muttered, his jealousy clear. He wrapped his large arms around her torso, pulling her close.
"Aw, sorry," Elayne said gently. "But... I can't bring myself to be cold if I can help it. It's part of who I am. Maybe it's grown stronger... this urge to please others. I might be a little mad."
