"Why are you here, Luke? You already left my agency. Or did Everleigh, your new woman, send you here to spy on me?" She asked with a slight scoff.
The irritation in her voice gradually ignited the fury I had managed to conceal.
I didn't know how much I hate it when someone refers to another woman, who wasn't Valerie as my woman until now, and I was really pissed.
"I'm here to return your rewards to you." I gritted my teeth in annoyance as I spoke to her and she asked.
"What…did you mean?"
I chuckled emotionlessly at how confused she looked and I decided to make it easier for her to understand.
"You set up my mate and rounded her up to marry a total stranger for a reason best known to you and you think you can go scot-free?" The color on her face gradually diminished at the tone I used on her but I didn't care.
I wanted her to be fearful enough to divulge the secret between her and the Vidin King to me, as she was utterly useless to me.
