Charlton observed Serena as her countenance altered between melancholic and bittersweet while she contemplated her response. Briefly, he wondered what story lied behind each expression, but before he could guess, Annalys interrupted.
Annalys who has been at the sideline observing Serena knew that it was time she plays her role. "Your grace, sorry to interject, but please be more considerate…"
Charlton looked at her confused. "I'm sorry, but what do you mean?"
Annalys bit her lip, as if placed in a difficult situation. Then, she looked pleadingly at Serena.
When Serena heard the words Annalys spoken for her, her line of thinking shifted. She asked herself, was it possible that Charlton knew how she's doing and was being deliberate in asking her? Was everything he doing so far, scripted? Was the reason he approached her, why he's flirting with Annalys in front of her, and was currently with her now, was just so that he could rub to her face how stupid she has been?
