John tells her he's going to do some things while his laundry comes out.
He asks her to please hold it for him if the laundry comes out before he returns.
The clerk agrees.
John leaves for the construction company.
As usual, Officer Clive is there. In fact, it was strange not having run into him in two days.
Which was very convenient.
Officer Brown has arrived at the laundry room and stands in front of the clerk's counter.
The woman, looking at her, gives her a slight smile.
She nods toward the laundry room where John's things are being washed.
The detective manages a somewhat sarcastic smile.
The clerk comments that it's still fine, it's a luxurious bedding set that she loves.
The agent leaves the room.
Standing outside, he puts his hand on his waist and adjusts his sunglasses with the other.
He walks toward his car.
John enters his cubicle.
Not a minute passes when Officer Clive knocks on the cubicle wall.
He greets him familiarly, and John tries not to get nervous.
He offers his help if he needs anything; if not, he'd like to get started with his day's work.
Clive manages a somewhat forced smile, given the tone of the greeting.
He chooses to sit across from John's desk.
