The muscular abomination glanced at the trio with a coldness that carried a buried flash of rage. His voice rumbled through the broken void like a seismic current. "Emprik. Kukulkatz. Zarin. Explain yourselves. How could you allow the Heart to suffer this much damage?"
The three Champions of the Root stiffened immediately. None dared raise their eyes to meet his. Their dread only deepened at the sound of his voice, the tremor of fury inside it. Even Kukulkatz, who had reached the battlefield full of arraonace and even looking down on Emprik, remained perfectly still, head lowered.
That was more than enough to make it clear that the Champion of The Root and the new entity were in a completely different league.
The abomination's muscles coiled, twisting and tightening as if the Root itself breathed through him.
