When they entered their new house,the both siblings were amazed to see how beautiful and spacious it is. The place they were residing before was like 'a rat's hole' when compared to this 'paradise on earth' home.
Karyln was amazed "Wow Dad! this place is really amazing,it must be quite expensive considering how nice it looks".
Daryln added on "Yeah it really is, I once googled the prices of houses and I found that the price of houses in this neighborhood costs over 30000 RMB"
Mr Rivers walked over and hug them both "It does not matter whether it is expensive or not,all that matters is that you both like it.Moreover the family that lived here before us had a financial problem and sold the house to us at a cheaper rate than the other houses in this neighborhood. I'm ready to work my ass out to give you guys the best of the life I do not get to enjoy myself. You both are my treasures".
Mrs Rivers walked in with the luggage' What's with the emotional moment, will you two get over here and help me with the luggage?'
Karyln and Daryln went over to help her carry the luggages. After a whole afternoon of moving and unpacking luggages,they both were so exhausted that all they want is a warm shower and a nice sleep.
They both took their rooms opposite each other and wheeled their luggage in,they both were too tired to unpack the luggage and just flopped down on their respective beds and slept off.
Mrs Rivers unpacked the remaining bags and boxes with the help of her husband. "We will have to wait till they wake up before choosing a decoration theme because they might not like the one we choose' Mrs Rivers said.
"Well they took after you since you are just as picky as them"
"Surely they would take after me since I'm their mother but it's just that they are more picky than me especially Karyln"
"The younger generation shall surpass the older ones"
"Thanks for your compliment" she retorted sarcastically."I have to go and state preparing lunch for my darlings,I'm sure they are extra exhausted".
"Go on,go on,go and prepare food for your darlings and forget me because I'm not your darling"
"Are you now jealous of your own kids?"
"Jealous? Are you kidding me?"
"What are you doing if not jealous? Beside did you see me getting jealous when you called them your treasures?"
"Of course you are my number one treasure"
"Of course you also know you are my only husband,the only darling that tops the list of my darlings".
"It's okay, stop trying to brownose me and go and prepare something,I'm famished."
Mrs Rivers goes inside the kitchen to whip up a simple meal while Mr Rivers goes in to catch a short nap. She has to make use of a little corner as a make-shift kitchen since they had not arranged the kitchen appliances in their appropriate places. This made the meal take a little more time than usual to be ready.
When she finished with the dishes,she took it to the dining room and served it . She goes upstairs to call on her husband and kids. She enters the main bedroom and softly wakes her husband "Honey,the food is ready"
"I'll come down in a minute"
"Alright,I want to go and call on the kids"
She knocks on Daryln door but noone answers,she knocked for a little while before she heard his voice "who's there?"
"I'm the one dear, lunch is ready, come downstairs"
"Ok mum, I'll be there now" he replies as he rustles his bedsheet and gets up to fold the blanket. Mrs Rivers turned to Karyln's door to knock on it.
She knocks for a while but nobody answered. She had to bring out her phone and dial Karyln's number. She could hear the phone ringing in the room but it was not answered. She calls a second time and she could hear Karyln grunting and murmuring to herself wondering who is disturbing her precious sleep.
She took the phone from her bedside stool and answered the call without even looking at the screen to know who's calling.
"Hello" she drawls and she was stunned to hear her mother's voice on the other end of the phone.
"Hey sleepy head, aren't you coming downstairs for lunch"
"Mum,is that what you are calling me for?"
"Of course yes,are you coming or not? Your brother and father are waiting downstairs"
"You guys should go on without me,I still want to have my beauty sleep,I'll microwave my share when I'm awake"
"Alright" Mrs Rivers turns around to go back downstairs while Karyln continues to enjoy her sleep.
As soon as she approached the dining table,Daryln looked behind her knowingly and when he couldn't find Karyln he said"I know she was not going to come,she just enjoys sleeping so much"
"Apart from sleeping all day long,she's also lazy. I wonder whom she took after" Mr Rivers added on.
"Yeah,keep it up. Let her come downstairs and see you insulting her especially you Daryln"
"Well,she's not coming down anytime soon. That I'm certain of".
"That's alright,where are your table manners? Concentrate on eating before you choke"
"Yeah mum".
After they finished eating, Daryln goes inside the kitchen to do the dishes while Mr and Mrs Rivers were deciding on how to arrange their main bedroom.
After finishing with the dishes,Daryln is ready to go back to his room when his daddy said "You guys should not stay cooped up inside your room,try to go out and make some new friends,this is a new neighbourhood"
"Ok dad,I'll try my best"he said and turned to go back to his room nevertheless.
