Chapter 3 - MERFOLK 2/2

One by one, the mermaids approached the people who followed their voices. They touched their shoulders and slowly pulled them deeper into the depths of the ocean. As they opened their mouths, the humans followed them and little by little the mermaids started to suck the fruit of their greedy and evil hearts.

A blue-like smoke came out of the mouths of those people and went into the mouths of the mermaids. In a few moments, their eyes turned white. Their long-awaited glowing object that looked like a small seed also came out, along with the last blue smoke. The spirit of their greedy hearts and souls is now in their bodies.

The bodies of the three men were almost dry. The mermaids released them and as their bodies fell into the depths of the ocean, they gradually turned to ashes until they finally disappeared and joined the water.

''My wavy tail shines again! '' Nereida said excitedly.

''We haven't had a bad heart in a few months, so I'm happy that we're alive,'' Sonata said while looking at her glowing tail.

The same goes with Aquarius, who feels so happy while dancing with her glowing tail. She suddenly stopped, as if she remembered something.

'That creature.' She looked back at it where it had been thrown earlier. The unconscious person is still floating. The mermaid stared at the few colors and diamond shapes that merged with the human aura.

Without a second thought, Aquarius swam to the human.

''Aquarius! Where are you going again?!'' She heard Nereida's loud question, but the latter did not answer, as if she didn't hear the call.

"Aquarius!" They yelled at her in unison and, at last, she answered. "Saving the person who is close to his death!"

''You're delusional,'' Sonata uttered in frustration. The two couldn't bear the scene they were witnessing, so they followed the stubborn mermaid.

When Aquarius got close to the person, she immediately grabbed his wrist and pulled him, regardless of the weight and size of the person being rescued. She pulled him until they reached the sand of the turtle-shaped island. Aquarius attentively faced the man's bloody face, which was also full of scars and swelling in different parts of his body.

'Poor creature.' In her mind. She parted the hair covering the unconscious young man's forehead. 'A creature like him should be given a second chance to live.'

She brought her face closer to the young man when Sonata suddenly scolded her. ''Don't you dare continue what you're planning, Aquarius!'' She said authoritatively.

''Come on, Aquarius, if that person's fate is to die, there's nothing we can do,'' Nereida said. Aquarius just looked at them, confused.

'But, I doubt that's fair. The good creatures should live, and the bad should die.' She stared again at the unconscious young man. 'What my friends told me is not being processed by my brain, but I will do what, I think, is right.' She said in her mind with an enthusiastic expression.

She brought her face closer to the man, who he thought was not breathing. Even though she had heard the objections of the two mermaids several times, she still ignored them.

She pressed her lips to the man. It took a few seconds before she removed her lips from the human lips, and nothing else happened that worried her.

It took a while before the man's cough echoed on the land. A lot of water also came out of his mouth, causing him to get up a little. It slowly opened its eyes and looked around while breathing deeply, as if catching its breath.

'He's looking at me! What will I do?' Aquarius said in her mind as she started to panic.

''W-who are you?'' The man's voice was cracked a little and weak when he asked.

''Go away, Aquarius!'' Sonata called her, but she didn't move.

She was about to leave when her tail suddenly oozed. It flows like water and then something forms. Aquarius's eyes widened, unable to believe what her eyes were witnessing.

''Sonata! What's happening to me?!'' She looked at her friends, whose faces were also clearly shocked.

''Y-you're having a legs!'' There she shouted.

'What? But why?' She looked at the creature, who closed its eyes again. Her eyes landed on the young man's legs, the water was condensing there, and it was as if a shape were forming. She watched herself, a part of her body was now losing scales. She patted her back with the fins disappearing one by one, followed by her chest gills and ear fins.

Not only that, but she looked again at the man who was now developing scales on his arms, gills on his chest, and ear fins. Those scales and tail are beginning to move towards the young man.

"M-my tail, it's gone, Sonata! Nereida." Her voice trembled with the fear she felt at this change. Her tail completely oozed and turned into legs, while the young man's legs were also completely eaten by water until it became a tail.

The mermaids were stunned and immobilized for a second by what they witnessed.

Aquarius held her neck and groped because she was looking for the gill that she used to have. Not being used to using her nose, she struggled to catch air as she chased her. Even if her two friends want to help, they don't know what to do either.

"Aquarius, go back to the sea, just in case your tail comes back." Nereida suggested, and the girl immediately nodded. She crawled to go down into the water and when she went under, she had the feeling that the sea didn't want her. She breathed at the bottom, but the water just entered her nose and throat. Furthermore, she couldn't swim with her legs anymore, so she finally asked for help.

The two mermaids looked at each other and just helped the fellow get out. They helped her get ashore, coughing.

"It's so painful.'' She held her nose and forehead. The water entered her nose when she tried to breathe underwater. She felt a sharp pain from her nostrils down her throat. She was still struggling to breathe, so she remained gaping.

"You can't come anymore.'' Sonata closed her eyes before facing Nereida, who also looked away.

"I'm sorry, Sonata, Nereida.'' Aquarius felt the heaviness of her chest that was new to her. Later, a tear dropped in her eyes. When it fell on the sand, it became a white pearl.

She wiped her eyes when her friend spoke. "There is nothing we can do, what happened has happened,'' —Sonata tried to smile— Nereida, help me.'' She called her companion as they pushed the boat closer to Aquarius, who stared at what they were doing.

''Get on board, we'll be back later,'' Sonata said.

She nodded as she forced herself to crawl to cling to the boat while Sonata supported it. When she succeeded, she hugged her body, which was covered in sand. Once she felt the cold air, she felt strange because she was used to the warm water of the ocean.

The boat moved as Nereida peered at Aquarius in the fetal position. ''We'll get you back Aqua, don't worry, meanwhile we'll take the young man to the ocean,'' she said. The girl nodded, then she heard their tails smacking the water. 'They have gone under.' In her mind.

Now that she was on the boat, she thought her ordeal was over, but it wasn't. A big net was at her feet. It has a firmness that makes her feet tickle. She rubbed the net from her leg until it slipped, but it wrapped around her. It was difficult for her to remove it, so she just blew air out of her mouth out of frustration.

She lay down and looked at the sky. She raised her hand and pointed to several stars. Not only that, but she drew her former figure in the air and then hugged her naked body again because of the cold wind. The coldness she'd feel was biting through her muscles, and she couldn't stop shivering until she slowly closed her eyes.

She woke up when she felt the boat moving. The sun's rays hit her eyes, which made her blind for a second. She felt someone pull on her side, so she raised her head slightly.

A blurry figure moved when she squinted her eyes. She thought it was Sonata but realizes it was not. When the figure turned its way, she immediately closed her eyes again but more firmly. She held her head when she felt it throbbing intensely. She couldn't help but wail in pain and her breathing became deep like a fish running out of air.

Likewise, she wasn't concerned about the saliva coming out of her mouth and the agonizing pain that was new to her. Currently, the only thing on her mind was, 'Water.'

''What the heck!'' said the figure wearing a white baseball cap. She peeked into the boat and the girl's body was exposed to her without any clothing but dried sand stuck to the skin. She was sure that she heard a woman's voice. Her vision doubled and became blurry, so she couldn't see the other girl's face until it became blank, and it all went black.
