Hazel Allison returned home in high spirits; the first thing she asked her parents was whether they had received an invitation from Ms. Hughes. Seeing her parents shake their heads repeatedly made her expression falter. Her mother, April Shirley, then wondered, "Could the invitation have been sent to Charlotte Allison?"
Hazel thought it was quite likely, so she immediately messaged Charlotte.
At that time, Charlotte Allison was having dinner with Henry Shipton.
Charlotte replied with just two words: [Nope.]
"Oh, Miss Allison is so distracted dining with me; are you chatting with your boyfriend?" Henry teased in a drawling tone.
"Hazel Allison, she's asking if I received Ms. Hughes's invitation for her." Charlotte said, taking a bite of her steak.
"Shouldn't she ask Jackson Vance instead?" Henry remarked, not forgetting to wink at the beautiful woman who had just sat at the neighboring table.
