Lucas Quinn's eyes suddenly sharpened, yet he calmly said to Charlotte Allison, "Sister, watch later. Hold on tight."
Charlotte realized something and didn't hesitate to shut off her tablet and put it away.
Ever since she got into this seemingly ordinary SUV, which held secrets within, she understood just how dangerous the task Lucas was about to undertake would be.
The vehicle was bulletproof, so when Charlotte heard bullets hitting the car's body, she didn't feel afraid.
She watched on the car's internal surveillance screen as someone holding a gun aimed from the window of a black vehicle behind them at the car they were in.
Some aimed at the windows, attempting to shoot the car's occupants; others targeted the wheels, trying to halt the vehicle's progress.
And Lucas, driving, always managed to deftly evade bullets aimed at the wheels.
"Julian Wolfe, it's time to work," Lucas said quietly after dodging a few shots.
