Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Wishing Mrs. Parker a Victorious Start

A stumble, and all the beautiful atmosphere was gone!

Gone!

"Big eyes just to be a third wheel? Running so fast are you rushing to reincarnate?"

Polly Sutton stomped hard on Victor Parker's foot, finally understanding why Madam Parker used her life to threaten her and Victor into marriage. If she didn't marry this man, he was destined to be single forever.

Victor gave Michael Knight a glance, then wrapped his arm around Polly Sutton and left the crowd.

Michael watched them leave and murmured, "When did he get a girlfriend?"

A century-old iron tree finally blooms?

Polly was dragged by Victor into the car, struggling to push him away, "I'll sue you for kidnapping."

Victor directly pushed her into the car, "Don't forget our agreement."

"No women are clinging to you now, so this counts as extra work." Polly retorted stiffly, then quietly leaned against the car door when Victor looked at her, "I-I'm just telling the truth."

Always acting tough but scared, that describes her perfectly.

"Let's go to the mansion first, tell my mom you won't divorce me."

Although this might not completely dispel his mother's ideas, it could at least settle her down a bit.

Polly was instantly shocked; Victor thought if she were a kitten, her fur would be standing on end by now.

"You're joking, I already spent the five million."

Polly said, turning to open the car door to leave, but Victor grabbed her collar to stop her. Polly crashed back into his embrace, still struggling, "Not going, not even if I die."

Victor held onto Polly's collar and told the driver to go, "The contract is for one year, during which you must cooperate with the client to sever all matchmaking attempts."

"You're forcing the subcontractor's will, that's illegal." Polly's face was red, sweating from the struggle, but the hand behind her didn't budge at all.

"Don't want the divorce papers anymore? Do you really think a divorce agreement signed by only you is valid?" Victor released her, leisurely watching Polly whose face was red with anger, "I'm the one married to you, I must be present to divorce too. Can't even understand such a simple truth, no wonder you can be sold."

Polly furiously adjusted her clothes, coldly glancing at Victor; what's the use of being handsome, if he has a mouth?

"If you can make my mom drop the idea of setting me up this time, wouldn't it also be a permanent solution for you?"

That seems right, but thinking of Victor's mother, Polly still shook her head, "Not going, I can help drive away your matchmaking candidates, but never said I'd deal with your mom, that's a different price, no, not even about money."

When the old lady was alive, she was forced to interact with Mrs. Parker a few times, which was nothing short of a living nightmare.

"What, don't want a divorce anymore?" Victor played his trump card.

Sure, dreaming about it!

Polly frowned, biting her nails as if considering whether seeing Mrs. Parker or getting divorced was more important?

Polly pondered and quietly scanned her circumstances, seeing Mrs. Parker seemed deadly, but being in a marriage with Victor seemed even deadlier.

Victor continually watched her, baffled at how one person could have so many small habits. He hadn't looked at her closely before, now that he did, it seemed that besides being pretty, she had no strengths at all.

Couldn't understand why Grandma chose her.

Before Polly finished biting her nails, the car had already reached the Parker family mansion entrance.

Polly hid in the car, pretending to be an ostrich, not wanting to get out.

"Get out." Victor stood at the door, blocking the woman inside who wanted to curl into a ball.

Polly glared at him fiercely, which to Victor was just an angry kitten, having no deterrent, instead making one want to bully her gently.

"Victor, why are you back just now, didn't you say..." Mrs. Parker was over fifty, but because of well-maintained skin, looked only in her thirties or forties. Even at home, she wore high luxury outfits, with exquisite makeup, very much a high-class lady.

But the smile on her face disappeared instantly when she saw Polly, from a real mother to a stepmother.

Polly was pulled out of the car by Victor, now only wanting to clutch her little wallet, feeling the five million was no longer safe.

"Why is she here?" As expected, Mrs. Parker spoke, full of disgust, glaring at Polly as if questioning her: where's the five million? Where's the five million?

Polly controlled her expression, hands instinctively covering her small pocket, like a little squirrel hoarding nuts, not allowing anyone to steal her stash.

Victor wrapped his arm around her, "Mom, she's my wife, your daughter-in-law, why can't she come?"

Mrs. Parker choked on her son's words, glaring at Polly again, where's the money?

Polly this time looked at the sky, seeing nothing, nothing at all.

"No, Victor, she is..."

"Mom, are there guests at home?" Victor led Polly inside, asking knowingly.

The guest in the living room was the only daughter of the Lynn family in City A, named Sophie Lynn. The Lynn family's status in City A was almost on par with The Parker Family, so Mrs. Parker was most satisfied with this girl from the Lynn family, and she happened to like Victor too, not even minding that he was twice married.

At this thought, Mrs. Parker glared at Polly again, feeling her son was ruined by this woman.

Polly: "..."

Thanks, but I really don't want to ruin your son.

Sophie Lynn was momentarily stunned upon seeing Polly, but quickly returned to normal, smiling brightly at Victor, speaking in a coquettish tone.

"Brother Victor, Aunt said you'd be back today, thought we haven't seen each other in a while, so I came to visit, hope I didn't disturb you?"

Polly shivered, getting goosebumps all over.

"Cold?" As if sensing Polly's shiver, Victor held her close, speaking softly, appearing extremely intimate.

Sophie clenched her fists, Mrs. Parker drew in a sharp breath of air, "Victor, come upstairs with me."

Watching Mrs. Parker head upstairs, Victor whispered in Polly's ear, "The battlefield is yours now, hope Mrs. Parker triumphs."

After speaking, Victor's lips seemed to brush her cheek, making Polly want to press him down and kick him away. Damn man.

Sophie twisted her hands, maintaining a smile while inwardly wishing she could devour Polly whole.

Once Victor and Mrs. Parker went upstairs, the servants in the living room each seemed to receive some sort of signal and busied themselves.

"I heard from Aunt you took five million and left."

Sophie spoke with disdain, viewing Polly as the kind of woman who would stop at nothing for money.

Polly twisted her neck, flexed her wrists, really as if preparing for battle.
