The timing wasn't right, not because Polly Sutton was being petty, but because the timing was genuinely off.
"It won't have much impact; they can't even take Backflow Cove. If they want to make any big moves, they'll have to weigh their options, and besides, Mr. Lucas is still here even if I leave."
Hearing Victor Parker say there were no issues, though Polly was worried, she didn't say anything further.
"Mr. Parker is heading out?" Mrs. Lewis asked as she came out after cooking, "Polly just got pregnant, and you're leaving?"
It was then that Victor realized why his eldest son was so eager to help; he must have found out about the pregnancy.
"I just have something I need to take care of, and I'll be back in a few days," Polly explained. "Mrs. Lewis, is it time to eat?"
Since Polly had said so, Mrs. Lewis didn't press further and simply started setting the table for dinner.
