Panlong Palace, Jun Ning's residence.
The night outside the window was deep, the cicadas chirping tirelessly. Inside, the red candles wept, the fire flickering brightly, as if shedding tears of joy for the lovers' reconciliation.
After Jun Ning and Qi Xiao finished their dinner, they returned hand in hand.
Jun Ning, having bathed and changed into a loose white cinched dress, felt somewhat bored. She picked out a book, leaned by the bed, and started flipping through it.
In the adjoining room, Qi Xiao was bathing, the sound of water splashing stirring her heart, heating her whole body.
"This can't go on, it really can't."
"You are Jun Ning, how can you let your mind run wild like this? Are you restless at heart?"
Jun Ning mumbled to herself in a low voice, like the buzzing of a mosquito, then reached out and patted her face, trying to calm down and focus on her book.
