On the inside of the room, atop the bed, there was a small 'mountain' under which a vivacious young girl was sound asleep beneath the blankets.

On the other side of the room, a woman in a black gown with long hair sat quietly in meditation on a cushion.

One woman slept, the other cultivated.

The western chamber was silent.

So quiet, you could hear a pin drop.

At a certain moment, from the main house not far away, there seemed to be a faint fluctuation of spiritual energy.

The disturbance was minor, and before it could spread beyond the courtyard, it had dissipated beyond detection.

The western chamber remained as tranquil as before.

The figure of the woman in black, who was meditating, remained utterly still.

However, occasionally, the pile of blankets on the bed inside would stir slightly, as the lively young girl turned over in her sleep.
