Bryan White could still hear it clearly, every word seemed to pierce his heart.
The man's green eyes instantly turned red, and faint bloodshot lines appeared at the bottom of his eyes, looking very frightening.
Mabel Doyle then closed her eyes, lying still in the seat. Bryan White pulled back, forcefully suppressing the pain in his chest.
He closed the car door and turned around, meeting Jane's gaze. The woman had a hint of confusion on her face. She stared at the man's slightly red eyes and asked, "What's wrong? Is something off?"
Jane didn't think too much about it, assuming Bryan White had something to do and was worried about wasting his time. "… If you have something to take care of, I can take a cab to send her," she said.
"It's nothing, get in the car." The man averted his eyes, his voice still somewhat hoarse, and he opened the door to the passenger seat, signaling to Jane.
Jane glanced at him, then sat inside.
