"In the throes of love?" Bryan White caught the key phrase, his sharp eyebrows furrowing as his handsome face darkened instantly.
Suppressing his anger, he said, "Miss Jane, although I agreed to pretend to be a couple with you at first, and told others we're just trying things out, when did it become a 'throes of love'!?"
He deliberately emphasized the words "throes of love," almost squeezing the words out through clenched teeth.
Jane frowned, clearly hearing the man's displeasure, and she also seemed helpless: "How would I know things would turn out like this? Do you really want to explain to them now that we're a fake couple and it was all planned!?"
Bryan White said nothing, pausing for a moment. Before she could say another word, he hung up and tossed the phone back onto the passenger seat.
Unexpectedly, not ten seconds had passed before the phone rang again. Bryan White glanced at it, seeing it was Jane calling once more.
