Chapter 19 - Chapter 18: Man Up

" Jaxon groaned for the 29th time. "Who ate all the rations?" Hayley quopped rolling her eyes.

*Snif, snif* "What smells so good?" Jaxon sniffed around. The rest ignored him thinking he was hallucinating. A few moments later, Jaxon emerged with a batch of lumpy white mushrooms in his hands.

Jaxon: " I was right. See!"

"I wouldn't eat that if I were you," Susan advised looking at the mushroom with her fiery brown eyes.

"Humh, I found them so I'll do what I want!" Jason scoffed as he bit into the mushrooms.

**A few minutes later**

*Thump* Jaxon fell as his body spasmed.

Sierra: "He had it coming,"

June: "Is he okay?"

Raising her eyebrows Susan said, "He'll be fine,"

***Present***

"When he woke he kept on saying random shit," Susan concluded. "So we wait for another hour?" Sierra queried.

June: "Seems like it, probably varies."

"Well at least there is no known imperilment," Jaxon said as he plopped down.

"But how did you figure that out?" Hayley questioned Susan and June.

"Well, it has only been 2 and a half weeks since this all happened, and none of us know how to fight, this took me a while to realise," June replied.

"Plus the biscuit did smell like the mushroom, though repressed. Because of that, I overlooked it." Susan sighed with regret.

"It's fine, everyone makes mistakes," Sierra comforted Susan.

"Some more than others," Hayley added, peeking at Jaxon.

Jaxon: "What does that look imply?!"

Hayley: "Exactly what it feels like!"

With those words, Hayley and Jaxon fought again. June and the rest looked on without the slightest inkling of wanting to help.

**Half an hour later**

Groans of Susan and the rest filled the plaza.

"Oh the newbies are awake," a soldier exclaimed looking at the group.

"And earlier than the previous ones," another soldier added.

*Groan*

"It may take a while for them to come around," the previous soldier said.

**A few minutes later**

"I shall never eat that 'mushroom' ever again!" Hayley declared holding her aching stomach, she and the rest lay on the floor. They nodded in agreement, while Jaxon smugly looked at them suffer.

"What are you gloating about?" June aggressively asked; her sky-blue eyes burned with anger.

Shurging his shoulders he spoke, "When this happened to me you said 'How can a boy act like this', 'Oh man up', 'I bet he's exaggerating' and 'Oh please cry me a river'"

Hayley awkwardly looked away hearing his last words.

"Let's focus at hand and tell the soldiers about the food problem," Sierra quickly changed the subject.

Slowing getting up Susan and the rest walked towards the kitchen. The soldiers' voices filled the plaza around the kitchen.
